No Luck with SS CEJ...am I the only one?

Am I the only one that SS CEJ doesn't work for? I am beyond disappointed bc I waited months for her to open up & ordered a full size before she put up the 2 oz that are there now bc I was scared she would run out before I could try it. I know I can put it on the swap board (& I might but I am not having too much luck selling my Jessicurl there either) but I am wondering what is going wrong? When I find people who might be my "hair twin" they seem to love it. I just made FSG today & I am so scared this won't work for me too since it was so easy to make & everyone loves it. Any input would be appreciated...I have learned so much in such a small amount of time...thanks!

Does not work for me! Gives me waves that are loose and sort of heavy/dirty looking. My hair does not like aloe.

Her Firm Holding Gel? Now, THAT stuff is HG status for me.

My 2 cents,

I gave CEJ multiple tries using multiple techniques and it never made my hair look good. It is frustrating not liking a product that so many rave about.

I've had completely different results with the FHG, however. For the last 2 months I've been using Homemade Flax Seed Gel on soaking wet hair then putting FHG on top with great results. It also makes the more expensive product last longer IMO. I would scrunch excess water out very carefully after the products were in my hair then diffused for about 10 minutes. I've tried scrunching out water before product application, but it never worked.

My only problem has been getting decent 2nd day hair. I've tried a bit of either product on top the next day and it just looks gross.

This week I felt like experimenting and have been using Curl Queen solo, with shiny curls and better second day hair just by spritzing a little water and adding a tiny bit more product.

Who knows what I'll be doing next month

I think it's a good thing to find out what you don't like, but it sure can get expensive!

My hair doesn't like straight CEJ, but it loves a good CEJ cocktail. My favorite mixes are CEJ/KCCC and CEJ/FHG. I mix them in my palms and then apply, with a hard hold gel on top. I get consistently decent results with it this way.

Thanks for resonding ladies & it makes me feel better to know I am not the only one this product doesn't work for. I think I might get a sample of the FHG from kathymack. I used my homemade FSG for the first time today & half of it fell through my fingers while I was trying to apply it! It really is an odd consistancy but I am not giving up...it is too cheap to give up on. I do have KCCC so I will try to use them together before I sell the SS CEJ...I already got an offer before it's on the swap board!

Hello again,

If your FSG is too runny, throw it back in the pot and boil it for a quick minute or so and whisk the crap out of it, that will help get a more even consistency and help it thicken it up.

Thanks

I'd love to try the SS cej. I'm afraid I won't like the fragrance though. Whats it smell like? Wanna swap? Ive got some Shea moisture full sizes and a bunch of samples from kathy Mack that have too strong a scent for me and some aubrey organics and other stuff.

Funny, I love the CEJ and hate the FHG! The FHG makes my hair go straight for some reason. I tried it alone, mixed w/ the CEJ and on top of other curl enhancers.

Once I started making FSG I realized that CEJ wasn't doing much of anything for me. FHG worked ok but I still had to use BRHG and other things have worked just as well or better than FHG. Late spring/early summer (not sure when) I made a list of everything my hair didn't like or I didn't like in my hair. A HUGE percentage of that had HEC in it so I avoid it. I even bought some shortly before I made that list. It's now sitting in the cabinet and will probably get thrown away when I clean it out.

Maybe you are on to something for me Missbanjo. My two best products so far have been KCCC & Donna Marie Miracurl Curling Gel & neither have HEC. I will have to keep this in mind when looking at products.
