Oils?

I keep reading about people using oils. What kind of oils does everyone use? How do you use them? Where do you get them? And can the be used on color treated hair? My hair is feeling really dry and I think an oil would help but I am clueless.
Thanks!

i love oils, i use em all the time, every day, for n with everything, same of my faves are: coconut, argan, hemp, tea tree, peppermint, lavender and also cocoa and shea butter. they can be used for sealing, for scalp messages, to help with styling, to add shine, detangle..... anything you can think of. its just about finding what works for you. i really enjoy mixing my oils together, starting off with a base, coconut oil or almond oil, and adding same argan, hemp or emu oil, (where the really good stuff is, vitamins n that) and adding lavender or peppermints for smell.
same types of oil are too heavy if you have thin hair, mines rather thick and heavy so i can be rather heavy handed, but you really have to start off with a bit and just add more until your happy with the amount you've applied.
cause the "good" oils can be rather pricey, argan, emu and hemp, i always use the base oil when im mixing, you dont have too, but its the best for me, cause i still get the good stuff but it helps stretch it.
you'll be able to get them online, at discount shops and health food shops. when buying them look for "cold pressed" "virgin" or "unrefined" dont even bother looking at anything else. I would also make suret hat the oils are pure when you buy them cause with the expensive oils they can add somthing else to it.
i hope you enjoy using oils as much as any other oil junkie does

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)

Thanks. Do you just leave them in or do you rinse them out?

I use oils almost everyday. I have fine porous hair and I love the heavier oils like coconut and castor. I also mix my oils and use them for rinses and sealing mostly. I whip it into my shea butter and leave it in if its just for sealing or rinse out if its for an oil rinse.

I henna and use oils so it would be fine for colored hair and for dry hair you can try adding oil before a leave in or sealing to keep in moisture.

I love using oils and get mine from Walmart. I use coconut oil because it can penetrate the hair shaft making it stronger and protects the hair when washing. And I use rice bran oil because it has ceramides in it that add luster to the hair while lessening breakage.
I've tried others like olive, jojoba, sesame, and apricot seed oils but those two are my faces.
I use them as an over night pre-treatment before washing my hair and seal in moisture during the week.
same oils you can leave in, cause the hair soaks it up, my good oils, like argan, hemp and coconut oils, my hair soaks up, but the heavier stuff i have to wash out, same ppl can leave the heavier stuff in as well or same ppl have to wash even the light ones out
