I just wanted to share this absolutely awesome thing that just happened to me!!
I finally found a hairdresser in my city who cuts curly hair dry, and I was feeling very adventurous on the day of the cut, so I asked for a curly bob. And it was the BEST haircut of my life (I don't know if the avatar is any indication, but...)!!!
I used to live in NYC and I had my hair cut at Ouidad and Curlisto with some of the more senior stylists. I never got a Deva cut so I can't report on that. But everytime I asked for a curly bob I ended up with hair that is "safe" and much longer than I asked for. I had those stylists patiently explain to me how it's a BAD idea to go any shorter with my hair. Also, none of them cut my hair dry. Turns out, it's not a bad idea to go shorter! They were just being lazy! What horrible value for money!
Also, WHOA! It is so easy to get shorter hair to look good because there isn't all that weight and damaged hair, all spanking new (relatively) fresh undamaged hair!
I totally recommend a dry cut to anyone who hasn't tried it. This guy wasn't professionally trained or anything, he just had great intuition. He chopped off hair roughly based on how it looks dry then he wet it and cut it based on the outline he made when it was dry. But the dry outlining made all the difference. Try to make sure that you go with your hair looking pretty close to what it would look like everyday (I went with 3rd day hair that was frizzy but stilly had it's shape) and not with curls that are all stretched out because that would be besides the point..
Yay! What a wonderful thing a good haircut is!

I'm drunk on compliments
