Question Is a ponytail too casual...

for a funeral? I'm going to be going to a funeral probably Tuesday. My hair is right between my chin and shoulders and wavy. I hate my hair at this length; I wear it up almost all the time. I can't do updos with it really except a ponytail. Plus I have a flaky scalp that will not go away and I don't want to have to worry about that while wearing black. Would a low ponytail be alright? I have basic large barrettes or a flexi-8. I'd straighten it so it looks very neat (Nothing against waves - it looks awkward while wavy and pulled back at this length).

I wish I could make it a curly tail but too short yet. I think I'm going to grow it on out. What would look best for this occasion in the meantime? I could wear it down and wear a gray or khaki sweater. I haven't been to a funeral in 10 years.

Can you do a low bun? I find buns are generally always easy to do/appropriate. Not a messy bun but it doesn't need to be slicked back ballerina style either; just a simple classy one?

If not, I honestly think a pony tail is fine. Just keep it low and simple, I would say.

A low simple ponytail should be fine... I honestly don't see the concern... I would hope people are too busy mourning to notice someone's ponytail. Just sayin'.

No, I mean, I can tuck my hair under, but can't do a wrap around (cinnamon type) bun.

Um, maybe because I want to show respect? I haven't been to a funeral for a long time and don't want to do anything that could look too casual. As I already explained.

Hmm. Ok. I would go for the sleek low ponytail then. It sounds classy/respectful if you ask me.

Low ponytail, parted in front, with a barette or flexi or black liga. Not a scrunchie or anything like that; a ponytail can definitely look non-casual as long as you present it that way. I ponytail for job interviews, etc. as a way of making it look more conservative and 'done', you should be just fine.

So sorry you had someone close to you die.

You can take a piece of hair and wrap it around the pony tail holder to hide it. Use a bobby pin slid under the pony tail to secure the hair. This helps dress up a pony tail. I think a neatly done pony tail is fine for a funeral.

I also think doing a side part, can dress it up.

But its a funeral i really dont think you should stress to much about it. the last funeral i attended (last year) i wore a ponytail.
