One Year Curl-iversary!
Whoa, I just realized that it was just over one year ago that I took the CG plunge! It was over winter break during my senior year of college that I said, "what the heck -- why not give my curls a chance?"
One year later and I've only relapsed twice. I have a few days here and there when I "miss" straight hair. I used quotes because it's not really missing the straight hair as it is missing the convenience of not having to wet my hair everyday. Even still, my curls are here for good.
For anyone starting out with embracing their curls who is frustrated with their hair, or feels ugly with curls, or has relatives/friends/whoever who make rude comments about your curls, I just want to say it gets better, you will find the right products (they don't have to be expensive!) and your curls are beautiful no matter what rude people say.
How long has it been since you went CG/embraced your curls/stopped relaxing/stopped straightening?

My last relaxer was April 30, 2005. I decided to no longer relax, and in August I decided to loc. I kept my locs for nearly 6 years, then took them out this year, May 21, 2011.
Congrats on the beautiful curly you!!

Congrats on your 1-year curliversary! I had mine in August, so I'm going on 16 months now. I still have some bad days, but most of them are good at this point, which feels awfully good.
Keep up the good work - your hair looks terrific!

My "hair-versary" was at the beginning of this month. I'm trying very hard to stay away from straightening (except from the salon since it's done so nicely and a few months in between). Congrats Creative!!!

Congratulations Creative, your curls look great!
I've been CG for 10 months now and whilst it hasn't always been plain sailing, (no 2 days are ever the same, lol) I think I've got my routine going now and my curls are looking and feeling so much healthier than in my 'cone days. Although CG isn't for everyone, (there have been times when I've been ready to give up at the beginning) I'm personally glad I've persevered and am now seeing good results like yourself and many others.
Wishing everyone a happy curly new year!

That's awesome, CreativeLicense! I just had my CG Year-a-Versary in the beginning of December. Your hair is beautiful, and you have always given me major curl envy! Glad CG was so good to you!

Congrats, CreativeLicense!
My one-year anniversary is right about this time as well. While I still feel like every day is an adventure and I never know what my waves will do, it's been a fun hobby and I love all that I've learned here! (Of course, the hubby might not love all that I've spent as a result of experimenting with so many products! )

Congrats, creativelicense! Your avatar hair looks fabulous. It's been 3 and 1/2 years for me since I quit using shampoo. I'm still playing around a little with my conditioners, but I basically have had the same routine since the beginning.

Thanks! Most of the time my curls behave and I think I was gel free in that pic.
