Default Mustard oil for hair growth?

I know a girl whose hair grew from bra strap length to waist length in the space of 3 months! One month I saw her and her hair was just by her bra strap and when I saw her 3 months later, her hair was to her waist!
I asked her how she made that magic happen and she said her mum put mustard oil on her hair everyday.
I bought some to try but when I read up on it, people were saying use only 2-3 times a week and make sure to wash it out because it is an irritant. (not sure how soon to wash it out though). This has put me off using it as I don't want to react to it.
Does anyone have any experiences with mustard oil or heard anything about it?

It's amazing it's the beauty hair secret for Pakistani women , but mustard Is so strong it's used to enhance the blood circulation , I use the powder when it's cold on my foot u can't imagine how warm I feel after few minutes, so it's better if you use it 3 days a week

Thanks for the quick reply! So how soon should it be washed out of the hair to avoid a skin reaction?
Also, as it stimulates circulation, should it be put on the scalp for hair growth?

For the duration I can't give u an exact time but an hour is good if u massage it for 15 min then just wait for an hour, yes it's good for stimulating growth any oil should be massaged generously on the scalp to get the benefits

I used it one time on my scalp when I.had an itchy scalp issue I it stooped within the hour. I mixed it with wheat germ oil (smells like car grease), neeli, amla, evoo... The smell was crazy I finished it and I can't bring myself to make that mixture again i can see how it can stimulate the scalp I haven't been able to read too much on it so I dont use it. I bought it for herbal infusion but I read it cannot be heated without giving off noxious fumes. I'm pulling it out into rotation again. Is it only used on the scalp?

I doubt her hair grew that fast maybe she had clip in extensions.I've heard the oil does grow hair and I'm trying it by adding it to my deep conditioner I use every 2-3 weeks.I hate the smell its really strong...idk if its the right kind because the bottle says its for massages and I got it from a liquior store that sells stuff like a grocery store would.

After I read this post I googled mustard oil. Some apply it to the scalp and hair leaving it on over night then wash it out the next morning. Sounds like something I should try.

I reserve all "strong" odor oils for dc. Good idea, I'll use it in my casssia treatments as well.

It was definitely all hers - I had my hands right in there as soon as I saw it! Lol!

I will try adding it to a DC - especially if it smells! I don't like the idea of putting it on everyday if it has a strong odour.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

You can add a light oil like olive almond grapeseed or castor oil.

Question And the resuults?

Hey curylocs232,

How did the mustard seed oil work out for you?

I am thinking of rotating this into my hair oils for DT's.

Amaralice, I haven't tried it yet. During the cold weather, I always flat iron my hair. As soon as the warmer months kick in, I will give it a go because I wash my hair almost daily then, so I can wash it out. I'll let you know though.
Has anyone else given it a go yet?

very interesting. If it stimulates blood flow to your scalp it sounds like it would encourage growth (but then there's the whole, what does you DNA say about hair growth? thing...)

But any massage to the scalp should be beneficial, yes? This oil looks a little pricey for unsure results. If anyone uses this, or is going to, can you post your results and thoughts on it?

One thing I hate about buying new products: the risk
