Default question about Curl Junkie products

Hi ladies!

So, I'm at a point now where I've had some success with the CG method and am ready to start branching out and trying new products. I've been using only items I can buy on the ground (for convenience/money saving) but I am so curious about the online/boutique brands I hear so much about.

I recently ordered a sample pack from Jessicurl, which I am super excited to try. I also want to try some Curl Junkie products, but I find their website so confusing! I had a really hard time trying to figure out which products would suit my hair type, and there are just SO many products in the line that it is a little overwhelming!

My hair is 3b, medium/thick density, low/normal porosity. It loves moisture and I tend to need harder hold gels/stylers.

According to the selection guide on the CJ website, these are the products I should get:

Daily Conditioning:
BeautiCurls Argan & Olive oil Conditioner
BeautiCurls Leave-in Conditioner
Curl Assurance Smoothing Lotion

Styling Products:
Aloe Fix Lite
Coffee-Coco Curl Creme
Curls in a Bottle!
Pattern Pusha Hair Gel

Treatments:
Curl Fix
Curl Rehab Moisturizing Treatment
Repair Me!

Is it me, or does that seem like a ton of stuff! I was hoping to get a sample set, or just buy like 1 cleansing product, 1 conditioner, and 1 styler. Do these products need to be used together for good results? Is anyone familiar enough with the line to help me pick out a couple to start with?

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can get the sample packs from the CJ site. There is one for cleansers and conditioners, and the other one is all stylers. You can also email Marsha your hair properties and such, and have her make recommendations for you also.

Wellll she has a TON of products but it doesn't mean you have to use them all. Some of them are better suited for warmer or colder months. The Curl Rehab makes a great DT, rinse out or LI it's quite popular. I've heard lots of good things about Pattern Pusha if you like gels. If you like DevaNo Poo then try her DailyFix cleansing conditioner. If your hair likes protein Repair Me is excellent.

Thanks ladies. I just sent an email to info@curljunkie.com - hopefully I get a response! Unless anyone knows another way to contact Marsha?

I will probably contact kathymack for some samples, but I'm still having trouble settling on which products to try. I think I will try Daily Fix and Curl Rehab, but I am still so confused about the stylers!!

Well CIAB doesn't really have much hold at all, mostly just a shine serum, like a final product. AFL has glycerin high up on the list so if that's an issue you could wait til spring/summer. PP seems to work for a lot of people, CCCC is a heavier cream.

Thanks for the insights! I just heard back from Marsha and it sounds like Curl queen or pattern pusha might be the way to go for me. Placing an order soon and can't wait to try this stuff!

I use CIAB almost daily as a serum. I scrunch in a small amount just before I diffuse. I don't use it as a styler - I use it last, after plopping, over my other styling products. It does a great job of preventing frizz. I use CIAB almost year-round for this purpose. In really high dewpoints, I switch to Curls Gel-les'c.

I love CJ cleansers and conditioners. I use them more than any other line. I love the Curl Fix as a leave-in. The Daily Fix is the best cleanser in the market right now IMO.

I haven't had as much luck with the CJ stylers. Curl Queen works well as a gel, over a curl enhancing product and the Aloe Fix Lite works as a curl enhancer for me.
