Grateful for published ingredient decks. I'll be passing on both.

Seriously, how many products can they add glycerin-and way up on the ingredient deck?? Especially if they wish us to layer multiple products.

Neither seem to contain their other fall back ingredient-castor oil. Jojoba is in the Curl Cream so that totally rules it out for me.

For those impervious to glycerin and fans of Devacurl products, here are links:

I am also not a fan of how there is wheat protein in so many of her products. It would be nice if there was some variety, obviously not all ingredients work for everyone. I am happy I have found other lines that work better!

Hair dislikes: lots of protein, glycerin
When I got my haircut last month, my stylist used the new curl cream. I told her I havent heard of this (or the spray gel she also had) and she simply said 'oh its new, just released!!' The salon I go to and Lorraine/Deva seem to be close, maybe she was trying it out as a tester, but the items were also for sale at the time with finished packaging and displays. I have to admit I'm not a big Deva product follower (aside from LowPoo and OneC), but my hair did look nice when I left the salon! I usually like to come home and style it myself to get a feel for the cut, but I went out directly after and got a few compliments on my waves
SegB likes this.
- 2C - Coarse Canopy & med/fine underlayers
- MOP C Hydrating 'poo
- LOreal Natures Therapy Moisturizing condish, ION Effective Care, Garnier S&S (old formula)
- treatments: CJ Curl Rehab, CJ Repair Me!
- plopping, diffusing, and clipping the roots
I read on their FB page that the gel is better for wavy hair...is this true?

I will likely try both once released at ULTA so I can return if I dislike the results.

My hair doesn't mind glycerin or wheat protein so I'm excited. My life will get 10 X better once they release hair spray! Especially if it is like the moisture lock.
*Shampoo - Tresemme Naturals (low sulfate) once every week or two.
*Conditioner - DEVA One (used for co-wash too). Yes To Carrots conditioner.
*Leave in - Garnier Fructis Clean styling cream & gel (DEVA gels are hit or miss depending on the weather. ULTA medium hold gel is also silicone free).
*Other likes - DEVA moisture lock spray, Ducks Clips (spray with gel first), diffuse 30 - 40%.
$25 for 5.1oz?!?!? Oh man...DevaCurl has gone off the deep end. And I'm no stranger to expensive products but good lord.

Anyone have an up-to-date review on the cream? I saw both at my local beauty supply store today and was a bit skeptical. Like others, I saw the wheat protein on the list and thought, "again with the wheat protein?" I am not a huge fan of this ingredient. Glycerin I don't mind, I put it in my FSG.

I am NOT a fan of the price tag on this. $25 for 5 oz?? WTF? Sorry, but really? 99% of the country is on a budget, and looking to SAVE money, not splurge even more. Hair products is the first place I've had to trim my spending, I'm so glad I learned how to make FSG, and so very, very grateful my hair has taken to it so well. If it weren't for that, I'd only be doing my hair on the days I had to leave the house! I can't believe Deva has the nerve to charge that for so little. Glad I can say, "thanks but no thanks!" and have a viable alternative.
That's me with FSG as my styler!!

3b. fine & thick, coarse, dry, medium porosity. Sucks up product and loves ACVs! FSG is my HG!

Currently using:
Low Poo: TJ's Refresh No Poo: CoWash w/VO-5; Sonoma Soap Company sulfate-free poo

Style: FSG w/Aussie Instant Freeze & CIAB
I have the styling cream that I bought last month some time at my ulta. I didn't realize it was so new. I like it ok. I use it with the B'leave in gel. I've used them several times. But it's not like "wow amazing" or anything.

Since I was so new to ingredients and products not too long ago, I figured devacurl products were a safe route to go. But he price! Yikes! I spent 27 dollars ( tax included) for the cream and like 24 for the gel ( both bought separately).

Since then, I've acquired other products I like better and that are much easier on my wallet. :]
CG as of Feb. 2012
combination hair.
2c on top - low elasticity
3a&b scattered underneath - normal elasticity.
fine texture. thin density. A lot of it.
porosity: normal to high.
loves protein and moisture.
BSACV as needed.

products may vary. i'm a PJ.
loving Curl Junkie, Curly Kinks, and AS I Am.
I bought the cream, but I only used it on my second day hair so far. I'll need to figure out what to combo it with.

It did leave my second day hair soft (I wet it a little and then applied some cream), but it didn't have much hold. I'm going to try it with a gel over the top and see what happens.

I bought it looking for something more moisturizing. A little seems to go a long way.

I 'll try to report back after I use it more. I got it at Ulta and used the $3.50 off coupon!
3B, with some 3C
Thanks for the info guys. Laney, sounds like you use it the way I use the Donna Marie detangler - which is a conditioner, LOL. I put a dime-sized amount into damp palms and then rub it together and finger-style my 2nd day curls. It works great - better than it does as a straight conditioner. The DM is about $14 a bottle. Hmmm.
