Deep Fix Made Hair Hard

Last night I cleansed with CJ Daily Fix. Then I did a DT with Deep Fix. Usually, when I use Daily Fix, no matter what conditioner I use after, my comb glides through so easily. After I rinsed out the Deep Fix my hair felt hard and gummy. I could not even get my comb through! Also, when I was applying the Deep Fix, I didn't feel like there was much slip.

This morning I low pooed like normal and used my HG conditioner, but still, my hair was a hard mess and I had trouble combing it! I always comb my hair with a wide toothed comb after I wash and condition, so that is not the problem. Any thoughts why my hair had such a reaction to the Deep Fix? I have used it once or twice before.

Usually I use Curl Rehab to DT but had this laying around from last year and I thought I would use it.

I think I am going to sulfate poo then do a DT with Curl Rehab to try to get this mess out of my hair. I had to go with a bun today because I could not style my hair :-(

that is very strange. if i have any problems with deep fix, it is that it makes my hair too soft if i dt too long.
maybe it was the protein? only tiny amount and you have fine/medium hair. maybe someone else will give you more helpful info.

Hi rbb- I will say, I used a fair amount...When I started with a small amount, it did not detangle well. And more didn't help. Then rinsing it out was awful. It was just so hard and gummy...I don't know how to explain it but it was like my hair divided up into several hard sticks, sticking straight out. I think I have fine hair but my hair does not tolerate protein well...Does Deep Fix have a fair amount?

Maybe it went bad, like the treatment spoiled or something. I know that isn't common, but I know it can happen. I hope your hair calms down soon!

That is odd to me, too.

I use quite a bit after coloring and my hair is always super soft. I also use it as a leave in and it allows my gels to crunch out to touchable hair.

Our hair is both fine/medium but our other properties are different.

cjdf has sooo much slip i can't imagine it not detangling. did you do a protein treatment recently, maybe it's on protein overload?
i'd clarify it and condition it with curl rehab. i'd email marsha and get her take on it.

Thanks Ladies...I tend to avoid protein because my hair seems to not like it...I have had the tub for awhile, maybe it did go bad...I do remember though, when I have used it before (only several times because I do like the Rehab better) it felt funny in my hair...Kind of like glycerin overload-squeaky...I wonder if it is the honey...Would honey do this? I want to say I have tried a different product with honey and it made my hair feel weird as well...Not THIS weird, but weird.

I will plan on clarifying tomorrow and using the Rehab as my rinse out...I just hope my hair goes back to normal!

Thanks for all of your help!

If it went bad you'd know it would smell off I highly doubt this is the issue. It wouldn't cause the kind of reaction you're describing & neither would honey in that product. HB fix does have some protein it's quite possible its not what your hair needs. A lot of the products in your siggie do have protein not sure how often you rotate them but maybe steer clear of those until your hair returns to normal. What is your HG condish that you mentioned?

Hi Del,

I have been trying to just use the KCKT or the MD CSC and KCCC. I can use some protein in my styling products, I just have to be careful of the formulation...If there is a lot of wheat protein in there my hair tends to get really hard, dry and frizzy...My HG conditioner is Tigi MM which I *think* has silk protein in the middle of the ingredient deck, which has never been an issue. But I will just use the Rehab tomorrow to avoid the protein...I also just got some SS CEG and FHG that I am going to try to use...But I will check the ingredient deck just to make sure they don't have a lot of protein.

Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I never tried any of the MD stuff :-) got way too much in my stash as it is, can't comment on that. HB Fix is a treatment conditioner & may just be too much for your hair in general. SS cej & FHG are protein free you should be good! Nope no more ideas sounds like you have a good plan sticking with CJ rehab.

Ok, thanks so much!

Ok today I pooed with CHS Treatment Shampoo (sulfate), conditioned with Rehab, and styled with KCKT and SS CEJ. Hair looks ok! I could get the comb through (not perfect but MUCH better) and my hair looks curly and nice. Not 100% but almost there.

I think I will continue to avoid my protein products for the next few days. Thanks to all who helped!
