Does the mousse give you enough hold or did you need a gel to layer over it?

Seemed to have enough hold on its own although I did put some anti humidity hairspray to finish (I'm in Florida so humidity can be hideous)

It took me several tries to figure out how it worked best for me. If I have frizzy spots, I put some of my leave in on those spots, and it fixed it. I know some people put gel/cream on those spots. When you go to apply it, if you rub the mousse into your hands so it is kind of like an oily consistency, that might help-it's what I do. It really is the only mousse I've gotten hold out of.

Until this last month or so I didn't realize there was anything at Sally's that I could use while maintaining my CG routine (since August). However, they have such good deals I can't keep away, and I've dug up a few products that are working really well for me. I don't know if they are all "CG" acceptable, but I know enough about ingredients to try to avoid sulfates and silicones and drying alcohols.
Some of Sally's products have become favorites - real hits with me!
1. GVP Conditioning Balm
2. Cure Care Hair and Skin Conditioner
3. Queen Helene Mint Julep concentrated sulfate-free shampoo
4. Biotera Curl Creme
5. Biotera Leave-in Conditioner for dry hair
6. Ion Curl Shaping Creme
7. Ion Effective Care Treatment
8. Ion Moisturizing Treatment
9. Beyond the Zone Zoodle Head Curl Boosting Spray

I really like the Hair One Cleansing Conditioner with Argan oil. I buy my EcoStyler from here. I may give Noodle Head Curl Cream another try now that I know how to use one in my hair!

Well, this thread is evil because instead of going in and ONLY getting my Biotera gel I also got:
Noodlhead mousse
GVP conditioning balm
And thanks to a thread on nail polish in the general discussion forum I also got a buffer and some buffing cream.
My Sally's must have is the Biotera gel. I've been using it for years, the price is awesome and I love that I can get it in the liter size and refill my smaller bottle, especially when they have it on sale.

I LOVE how that bioterra gel works...but does it flake on you?? Do you use anything underneath it? It always flakes when I use it but I refuse to give it up

The only time it ever flakes on me is when I use too much on one spot, but I really have to over do it for that to happen. It's usually a small area that maybe a little glob of it didn't get spread and I wet my finger, smooth over it and it's gone. I don't use anything under it. I apply gel to my hair in three sections and I probably use a quarter sized amount on each section.
I vaguely remember using a Volumaxx gel from Sally's that if I wasn't super careful would flake pretty bad, but never had that issue with the Bioterra.

Exactly! I have enough Biotera gel (I also buy the liter and refill my smaller bottle!). But I need a trip to Sally's. I want to try their version of the spin pins, if I can remember the name. (edit: these - http://www.sallybeauty.com/corkscrew...efault,pd.html ) It's been a while since I've been in there for a good browse.
ETA: I've never had any flaking with the gel.

I tried the mousse and didn't like it. It gave my hair that sticky, dirty feeling and even though I did like the scent (almost like a sweet baby powder, maybe?) when something lasts so strong all day it gets overwhelming. It did have hold, but my hair felt gross. It was worth a try, though!
So far I really love the conditioning balm and have been using it daily so we'll see how that goes.
Now if my bangs will grow out that I cut too short.. (I've gotta step away from the scissors)

So after all this time of being on these boards, I have yet to see mention of any new CG conditioners from Sally's? The only other one that used to be loved was the Aura which Sally's discontinued That was a nice one too...GVP Balm is just OK for me, but I have yet to find a drugstore or Sally's conditioner that I really like. Ecostyler is great in the Summer months I use it as curl enhancer with a hard hold gel on top.

In regard to the question about Biotera Gel flaking:
If you spray some water in your hair and scrunch a little after using the gel, that may help with the flaking. I don't use the gel very often, but when I used to use gel, I always had to add some water.

Spring, when you used the mousse, did you rub it into an oil in your hands-if you use a lot of the foam it will make your hair crunchy-might be worth a try-I don't apply it at all like a normal mousse? It's the only mousse that makes my hair soft and not dirty-looking. lol

Salon Care - Salon Care Apple Pear Conditioner
This is also CG, but I've never tried it, I've seen a couple of people that use it. I would be awesome if it worked since it comes in a large amount!

Ion - Volume Solutions - Ion Volumizing Conditioner
I've never tried it, but I want to, because I use a version of ION for my occasional low-poo and LOVE it!
