Brunette to Ginger?

I have always admired ginger hair, but not sure if I can pull it off with my coloring. Please help me decide! I have attached some pictures of me, and some of Emma Stone (my dream hair color). Thanks!

I think you should go slightly darker than the red in those pics. My hair color and skin coloring are similar to yours. I usually henna my hair and it picks up a little red not much. Dark hair colors have to bleached if you want a dramatic change. I would suggest an auburn brown first (I just bought this hair color shade from Colorsilk) or straight auburn, not such a big change. I myself want a shade similar to what henna gives me - I stopped hennaing b/c of the time commitment. I plan to eventually try a burgundy or wine color. A lot of lines now have hair colors made for naturally dark hair, if you want to DIY. I think they'd look very good with your complection!

I think a similar one would look great on you!
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.
A ginger here!! Join the red club! It's fun in here! Lol!

I actually think you need to go for a cooler red (as opposed to a warmer one), and maybe a smidge darker, just because you have that beautiful darker skin tone!

Go to a good colorist - they should be able to help you select a good red shade!

I second what Jas76 suggested. A cool, darker shade of red would suit your skin tone a lot better.

I just want to give you a heads up though. You might want to get into the habit of saying red instead of ginger. While some redheads don't care like myself(depending on the mood I'm in ) and Jas76 but there are redheads out there who consider the term ginger derogatory. I've seen some redheads get downright nasty when they hear that word.

KurlyKylee, henna is permanent so you should not have to do it as often as chemical dyes. I do b/c I have hard-to-color grays that do not always get masked by one application. That is why I stopped doing it, it takes 4-6 hours for the coloring process. www.mehandi.com has a lot of info about henna for beginners.
Yeah, it gets under my skin when someone uses it as an insult. But clearly here you were not, so no worries!

But there are some who might take offense, she's right.

I agree. I think a darker color would be better, more of a burgundy or wine color.

Sort of CG sometimes, but not really

Thanks so much! I'm sorry about the ginger comment. It's funny, I was going to post as the title "brunette to redhead" but for some reason I thought that would be more offensive than ginger, don't ask me why! I'll keep that in mind though. And I think I'll try more of an auburn first so it's not so drastic, and then maybe go to more of the other colors you mentioned. I'm posting more pictures of the different colors...
I think all of them would look great!!!! Esp with ur skin tone you could easily pull of the warmer or cooler colors! Lucky(lol!)

No need to apologize! It was obvious by your post that you weren't saying it in a negative way. I just wanted to let you know that some people are quick to get defensive when they hear that word and the last thing I'd want to see is someone get angry at you when you didn't mean anything by it.

I looked at the pictures and while they all look good, the third one has my vote! The others look more like a brown with a touch of red whereas the third actually looks like a dark red.
