Help!!! Going to try ACV
I was thinking of trying and ACV rinse/deep condition tonight but not sure exactly what to do... Not sure which or both or what?!?! I got some olive oil conditioner the other day and was thinking of using it... But would it be better to do the ACV then the olive oil condish? This is about the only night I have to Do anything bc I'm either working, baby sitting, or out most other nights and I really need something! My scalp has been getting really itchy Idk if its from build up it dryness...

well when i want to do somthing like that for my hair, i make up a herbal rinse and add ACV. i only need a little bit and its somthing that always helps any hair problems i have so if i have a dry scalp, or i get quiet a few single knots it helps when my hair is dry. and i use it as a final rinse.

I do an ACV rinse as the final part of my routine. The ACV closes the hair cuticle.

I fixed my hair last night so it has product in, something like:wash, coat in olive oil(or what else is good for a deep treatment and to help moiaturize the scalp??) And then ACV rinse the dt out?
I just know I need to do something bc my hair is getting very lifeless and my scalp is killing me!

the ACV rinse would help with that. Rosemary is really good for scalp problems, so is comfrey nettle and marshmallow root. you can use 4 or just one by its self. put a splash or ACV in it wait till it cools, then use it as a final rinse. I always get wonderful soft curls the next day.
ooh and it does smell a bit when ya put it in, but when its dry the smell goes away. HTH

Tiffany, aka Struttswife, recommends the following
Live Curly Live Free - Home Remedies
Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
There is some debate on whether or not an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse alone can clarify the hair; however, it is helpful to bring the hair back into balance after an alkaline solution has come into contact with the hair and will shut the cuticle back down. Repeated use of ACV rinses can be drying, so limit use to once or twice per month at most:
Combine:
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 cup warm water
Pour the mixture over the hair after cleansing (do not rinse out), then condition as usual. Any lingering smell will dissipate as the hair dries.

I just did it for the first time this week too. I read and read and read online and everyone said different things....different amount of vinegar..different times to use it (before or after condish) so i ended up doing my own thing...i'm not saying how or what u should do..but this is what i did and it turned out great.
First, i distilled some water..2 cups of water..and i added 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and let it cool.
I had shampoo'ed my hair the day before with a non-sulfate shampoo..so i only co-washed..i put the conditioner in my hair and rubbed and massaged and then detangled my hair. I rinsed out the conditioner..and then slowly poured the vinegar mix on my hair to make sure it got completely coated (make sure u dont get any in your eyes..it burns like a b*tch)...gave it a couple of minutes to settled. I noticed the difference immediately. my hair was nice and smooth and shiny. I then added my leave in conditioner, oil, and styling product.
I really really liked how it came out. The only thing i would do different next time is add less vinegar because it came out a tad bid harder than I would like but other than that..i completely noticed the smoothness and shinyness in my hair. Loved it. I will definitely be adding this to my routine once or twice or month.
Good Luck

I do the baking soda /ACV thing once every week or 2 just to deal with buildup from hard water. Also tried baking soda before my last PT, and followed my post-PT rinse with the ACV rinse. The delayed ACV application didn't seem to cause me any issues.
I use Struttswife's recipes for both. The baking soda clarification recipe is just baking soda mixed into cowash conditioner. After the baking soda cowash, I rinse all the baking soda /condish out, apply ACV rinse (do not rinse out), then continue my normal routine (RO, LI, styler).
I know others prefer baking soda with water, or do their ACV rinse later in their routine. I basically figured that as a professional who works with curls all day long, Struttswife's recipes were a good place to start. I could've tweaked them if need be, after a first try, but my hair responded fine to them as written.

I've never done the baking soda with ACVs (and tbh, I haven't done an ACV in several months) and this thread has inspired me to try it today. If it goes horribly wrong, I can just wash it out and try again since I'm home sick.

perhaps this has been brought up in discussion before, but does anyone have a preference for unfiltered, unpasteurized ACV vs. the filtered, and cheaper stuff? I have a bottle of both and am thinking the first one would be more beneficial, as everywhere else people say to not use the cheaper kind.

I've only ever used the cheap stuff, so no idea whether the unfiltered would be better. I'd be interested to know if someone's used both and compared results though.
