Looser curls

Ok...so I have a mix of 3 curls...canopy is tighter and more unruly. Got my hair cut yesterday...I trust this woman with my hair. She tells me about the effects of sulphates...and is pro curly...I can even get Deva products there. Anyway...I asked her if there was anything I could do about the tangles. She said she could do a process with a solution where she set my hair in larger rollers to make my curls looser. Sounds like a mild relaxer to me, but I'm seriously considering it. My hair is in fabulous health...I mean really...and even before I treated it so well it was very resilient! I mean I didn't BC...I transitioned seamlessly because when I wet it, it all curled uniform...although it may have been a little more manageable while the relaxer was in. I have always wanted looser silkier flowier curls and I could even straighten occasionally without too much trouble. So I'm thinking like lazy S's as opposed to what I have now...I'm pretty excited. I'm thinking I'll do it as spring comes...should make it loads easier to deal with for the summer.

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
I'm so excited...have any other 3a/b's done anything like this. I just an thrilled by the possibility of actually finding something to loosen them and make it more cascading and wavy like...anyone?

I really like your hair how it is! But I do know a woman who had the Brazilian Blowout thing done with big rollers and said she could still wear it wavy.

Me, I'd be chicken, if your hair is in glorious natural shape, why risk it? just do a rollerset on huge rollers to get the effect temporarily with no damage. On a dry day, LOL.
2c / C / iii (FIA)
Med-Coarse, LowPorosity, NormalElast (LCLF)

Shoulder-Length now.

Wash: DevaCare Low Poo
Detangle & Rinseout: Walgreens or Sally's Conditioning Balm (always)
Leave-in: DevaCare OneC (budget choice is GFTN)
Style: ReCoil & DevaCare Arc Angel (budget choices are HESMU or Got2BSpikedUp)

Henna!
I have 3a curls and some 2c waves, so pretty much what you want I'm guessing. I have always wanted tighter curls 3b or even 3c. The grass is always greener on the other side and going natural is all about embracing yourself for who you are and what God gave you! But I totally hear ya, I'm wanting to do something to my hair to my my curls curlier! And it's always nice to change it up, if you don't like it, it will always grow back out! How long is your hair btw?
Thanks for the reply ladies. I totally trust this chick...she knows how much I'm into my hair. I cut it recently too...I am just itching for a change. I've never really been one who could spend loads of time on it...for it to be temporary. I wanna have versatility and ease. And yeah...more 2c/3a waves...looser messy curls...I love that look. With the conditioning and stuff I do now...any damage would be minimal.

I found a pic of Evangeline Lily from Lost....she is just gorgeous! I guess hers are 2c...right? If my hair dresser can make mine like that I may have to grow it longer again

Thanks...I do too! That's what I want. I don't think I'll do extreme length like before...it was past waist. Once I cut it my friends said it made me look younger with it shorter. But i think I'll maybe go just above BSL tho

You should post a picture when it's all done! I'd love to see it!
Please post a before and after. i would love to see the results
CurlyFireHorse
Hair: 2a or 3a (not sure), very porous and fine as frog hair
Day 1: Cowash and condition with AO GPB, ACV Rinse,
Co-Kra gel (this stuff is fantastic)

Day 2: KCKT, KCCC, plop, KCCC, plop again, air dry
Day 3: Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Coil Jam
Day 4: IAGirl's PT, KBB DT, FSG

Co-Kra gel is my own concoction of okra boiled in coconut milk. It is a cross between FSG and KCCC and leaves my hair very soft and shiny
Henna loosensed my curls like that...but no damage at all. On your color, you would only notice shine and no color change. Unless you plan to lighten in!
2C in most weather, but in summertime I impersonate a 3 very very well!
My natural pattern is shown in my avatar (3b?). Last summer I go bored and decided to relax it. My hair was in "perfect condition" before. I have "looser waves" now.

I used a "mild relaxer" and left it on for less time than the least amount of time recommended. My hair has never been this damaged. I've actually never seen/heard my hair SNAP before this. It's just the nature of the game. I don't have severe breakage or anything, but I did end up chopping a few inches off. I did it full well knowing what a relaxer does, so I'm not really surprised. I just want to warn you that even "minimal damage" will probably feel terrible compared to what you have now.

In addition, relaxers aren't a perfect science/art. I relaxed mostly for the experiment, so I'm not too bothered by it either way. However, if anyone is looking at someone else's hair and thinking a chemical treatment will give them identical results, they have a high chance of being disappointed. Parts of my hair are more straight/wavy/curly than others and varies from day to day.

Just some warnings from my experience - good luck on your treatment!
Thanks for the warnings. I had henna before...my hair glowed red..and it was so course and plasticky...the tangles were awful...I just finally hit the last cut out. I used to relax my hair long ago...and before I did it a lot and then blow fried and flat ironed multiple times a week not to mention use sulphates. So before I went overboard like that...my hair was still in good shape

These are my curls now...I'm hoping to get my treatment end of February.

Oh yeah...I wanted to ask...whether I process it to 2c or leave it whatever it is. What length do u think is best? I am 33 and I had super length before...it was way below waist when stretched...once I got it cut a friend said I looked younger...I do wanna grow it some...but don't wanna look older...and can't handle it as long as it was. I was thinking like boob skimming length. What about that?

But if what you are doing is permanent, isn't it going to look funny growing back in? Or is it that Brazilian Blowout thing that sort of wears off over time?

Not sure exactly...I will talk to her about it...but if I were to continue it she said I'd only do it like once a year.
