My hair is so damaged right now I have cut it so many times the last 2 months I went from waist length (on the longest layers) to a lil bellow bra strap length.. I am CG and I have been for a long time.. I use Shea moisture moisture retention shampoo and conditioner and shampoo only once a week at the most ( if I dnt roots get oily) my hair reacts well to Shea moisture and it's the only thing I've used that gives me any sort of moisture but this winter even that's not snuff... I am 3a and a lil 3/b and maybe 2c I think I am low or normal poriosity in most places.. Protien seems to work well for me but I think I'm not getting enuf moisture in my routine but i think my rutune sounds fine... Cowash natures gate color or tea tree about 4 times a week conditioner detangle rinse every morning in shower leave in about a half dollar amount of moisture retention (shea moisture) seal with argon jojoba or almond oil or a mix and the scrunch in curls goddess curl gel and plop as long as i want usually 15-20 mins blow dry with difuser half of the time.never brush and only comb occasionally w/ wide tooth comb and conditioner soaked hair.. I do this every day... My hair always looks great but wen u look up close there r so many splits its unreal and my hair always breaks if if i put the slightest of stress on it wat should i change in my routine any natural CG product recs. ??? Any suggestions are a great help! Thnx in advanced and sry about this rambling post.. ancweird.rouWh
Sometimes hair gets worn out by daily exposure to everyday life things. WL hair is pretty old - it's been exposed to wind, sun, friction on pillows, etc. It sounds like being gentle/moisturizing isn't a problem. The damage can come from wear and tear or chemicals.
My hair is waistlength too and is suffering just like yours. Depending on how cold it is, you may not want to wear it out and free and exposed to the elements everyday, and especially with gel (which tends to get hard and makes my hair feel dry in the cold). As Saila said, waistlength hair has been around for a long time, so therefore it will be more sensitive to the climate and friction from rubbing on your clothes than shorter hair would.

Maybe you can try to wear cute buns and braids on the colder days so your hair can be protected from the dry cold air. As well as if you are outside with your hair out and down, put your jacket hood over your head when the wind blows until you get indoors.

If that doesnt work, it may well be that your hair is showing its age lol. My hair has been having split ends since it was at bsl, and i still managed to grow it to hip length at its longest.

Maybe protein would help. I started using Sally's version of k-pak, and it works really well. I only do my whole hair once a month, but sometimes I just put it on the ends, because it seems my ends just grow out and automatically split! It helps me. Just a thought...
