Help me with Pink Boots usage

I got some Pink Boots a few days ago (thanks, Medusahair!) and I'm trying to figure out exactly how to use it. The first time I tried it mixed with re:coil with joiwhip mousse over it, but I think I used too much of either the boots or the re:coil because my hair was kind of gunky and a bit flat. I did get good clumping though and that's what I was looking for with the boots. So today I tried much less boots (I raked through about a dime sized amount) and scrunched tress fx over it (I know, I really ought to change one thing at a time, but oh well). My hair looks pretty good and feels nice, but I didn't get the clumping I was hoping for. So, anyone who uses boots:

How much do you use,
How do you apply it, and
What do you use with it?

Thanks!

I use boots with re:coil too.. i use about a quarter size glob of re:coil. scrunched in, i rub it in my hands first , then diffuse a lil..then i scrunch in about a quarter size glob of boots and diffuse the rest..for my clumping i might scrunch a lil afterwards to break up my curls and i get great clumping that way 2..boots can be tricky to use just like re:coil . sometimes u gotta experiment more to find your routine. :D

There's a real fine line between too much and too little with both boots and recoil.
I like boots and recoil together but I have to be careful not to use too much or I get gunky hair. Oh and I don't use a leave in with boots. Some do but my hair cant' handle both generally unless it's bone dry cold cold dead of winter.

lushaholic needs to get in here, she's the queen of mixing boots and recoil and making her hair look fab with it.

Good luck!

Aww, thanks MH! :D When I mixing these two together, I cut down on both of them. So I take literally a fingertip of Boots (I just swipe as much that will fit on the upper part of my finger as big as my whole nail - but a thin layer, not too thick), and then squirt about a nickle size of Recoil, and rub them together between the palms of my hands and apply it to soaking wet hair. Like MH said, I don't use a leave-in when I'm using Boots either. Then I apply a gel over it like B&A or Abba Weightless (or one of the new ones I haven't had a chance to try with the combo yet, but I'm anxious to try Kiss My Face UM gel and HE SMU over it, so many combos, so little time ). But less is definitely more when it comes to using Boots. But you gotta love the clumping!

Thanks for the help, guys!

I'll give it another try this weekend and see if I can find just the right amount for my hair. Maybe I'll try mixing it with re:coil again. I really think it's going to work for me if I can figure out exactly how much to use.

I know you've tried it with a gel, but try it with another one. I can actually see how it might feel gunky under Joiwhip. Not because Joiwhip is gunky, but the combination of the two just seems like it could get that way. How long is your hair btw? Mine is mid-back, which is why I use as much as I do in that combo.

my winning boots combo is
boots
curl keeper
gel

i find that boots with another cream is too much.

This time of year, I like it either alone or mixed with re:coil. I use about a quarter sized blob, but my hair is fairly long when wet.

When mixed with re:coil, I mix the two together in my hand and use it that way.

Sorry to guano, but banjo, your hair never ceases to amaze me and make me completely jealous (in a good curly way! )!! It just keeps looking better and better!

My hair's just above shoulder length right now, but it's very thick. I always seem to need a lot of whatever product I'm using. It's a fine line though - I want control and less volume, but not too much or it just looks weighed down and droopy. I do have some B&A gel coming from Curlmart (delayed by the icestorm :( ) so I'll try it with that when it gets here.

Thanks for the help!

This is my favorite combo too. I only use like, a dime sized amount of Boots and then I rub my hands together to emulsify it before applying it. Then I scrunch CurlKeeper and the gel of the day in, in that order.
If you just play around with it, you'll get it eventually.
