please help - need a leave-in conditioner!

I am losing my mind... I need to find a new leave-in conditioner that will work for my thick, 3B hair. I'm kind of done with DevaCurl (for now) & would love to find a conditioner I can buy in the store. It just needs to be cone-free & CG friendly...any suggestions? I have Activate & like it, but am not in love with it yet. Thanks.

bumble and bumble

i love bumble and bumble leave-in, rinse-out . . . not sure if it's cg or not . . .

If you're not wheat protein sensitive, then there's several you could try. Jessicurl Aloeba is a nice one, Elucence is my favorite leave-in (great clumping), I can imagine the Regis Olive Oil one would be a good leave-in even though it's green (I'm going to try it as a leave-in anyway). Some people really like the Garnier Fructis Curl & Shine or Sleek & Shine leave-in, but I didn't get good results from the C&S, which made me too iffy on trying the S&S. I have tried the Bumble & Bumble leave-in/rinse-out as well, and think it was pretty good, but it was more pricey than the others so I didn't repurchase when I ran out of the first bottle.

Beauty without cruelty is one you can probably get at whole foods or wild oats or that type of store. That one is sort of medium moisture but Giovanni direct leave in is more moisture intense, at least in my hair. They have that at some of the stores. REally nice stuff.

Now if you're getting one online, that Curl Junkie hibiscus and banana for fine hair is real rich and creamy.

Grrr, WHY can't they have the BWC leave-in at any of the stores I've been to so far?! It's just not fair carrying the other BWC stuff and not that one.

I'm currently using and liking the Garnier Fructis Curl & Shine leave-in... it does have amodimethicone, which is the same 'cone as in Deva One so I don't really worry about it. I also tried a sample of Giovanni Direct leave-in before and that was really nice as well.

i tried the garnier fructis sleek'n'shine which was ok in my 3b hair too.

Thanks everyone! Where can I buy the Giovanni, at health food stores?

rushirb55 01-20-2007 06:46 AM

You can buy it from drugstore.com.

PixieCurl 01-20-2007 08:02 AM

And health food stores too - or the health food/organic section of a good grocery store.

curlsofny 01-20-2007 08:08 AM

Thanks - I see it on Vitamin Shoppe's website, so maybe their stores have it. I'll try today....thanks

curlsofny 01-20-2007 12:46 PM

ahhhh I can't find this anywhere locally - I reeeeally did not want to order online. There is a local health store near my job that can order it for me.

Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine

I second or maybe third  GArnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Conditioning Cream it works really well on my hair. It's cheap too so it's worth a try.

I'm just afraid of the build-up from the cones. I don't shampoo, so that could be an issue. I would LOVE to be able to use GF, nice & convenient & cheap.

banjocurl 01-20-2007 05:09 PM

garnier does not build up on me--neither does deva stuff. you might want to try it before a clarifying session to see what happens

Migs 01-22-2007 11:57 AM

I use Redken Smooth Down Butter Treat which is a rinse-out conditioner but I use it as a leave-in and it makes my hair nice and soft. Don't know about cones or CG. I have super-thich 3b/c hair. I have used the Deva Be-leave in (sp?) but have not loved it.

I too recommend Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner.

There's also ABBA Nourishing that's just as good.

I haven't used The Body Shop's Amlika in a while, but it's very nice.

Those are my top three.

I haven't tried any of the other leave-ins mentioned.
Yet.
D@mn I'm such a conditioner ho.

I can't find anything other than their shampoos, so you're not alone!

jce 01-22-2007 04:31 PM

I second the ABBA Nourishing Leave-in! It's my favorite! I find it a little easier to distribute than the Elucence, which would probably be my second choice.

In desperation (running low on ABBA), I've even used Suave Coconut as a leave-in. Not as good as the ABBA, though, but it worked for a few days.

curlsofny 01-22-2007 04:43 PM

Thanks everyone - I never knew Abba made a good leave-in.

Me too! I was surprised how well this worked. It's very moisturizing and in my budget! I think it's worth a try too
