You'll learn that almost any product or combination leaves some crunch. But that's a good thing - if you leave it alone until your hair is bone dry, it's like a cast that is setting in hold and controlling frizz.
Once it's dry, you can usually easily scrunch out the crunch (SOTC) with just your hands. If it's still difficult, try using just a touch of a little butter, cream or pomade of some sort.
Mine always does better if I do put product in when my hair is very wet, whether I go on to plop, diffuse, air dry or whatever. If I plop, I rarely add any more product afterward - I just let what I put in initially totally dry either by diffusing or air drying, usually a combo of the two, and that's enough.
Once scrunched out, if I find I need some more hold then, I use some Giovanni LA Hold Hair Spritz, a natural CG hairspray that's almost completely alcohol-free.
