i would not say outdated, it's more than there is so much more info in the 2nd one, and, of course, compared to when she wrote the first book, sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners are marketed now. a lot has changed on the curly/natural hair front since 2000!
it's so cheap it's worth the price, honestly! even if you come away with two more tips.... and the dvd is a great visual.
and, as i stated before, many libraries carry it so you don't even have to buy it.
or, go to a book store and browse and read thru it and decide if you want to purchase it.
