I have the 1st edition, bought it years ago, the first time I tried doing the CG method.

Would it be helpful to get the second edition? I'd hate to spend money on it honestly but if it is way improved, I may consider it.

I you have both or can point me in the direction of a comparison of the 2, I'd really appreciate it! Thank you!

oh, i have both and think the 2nd edition is worth the money. it comes with a dvd that is very helpful. the book is updated and has more info.
look on amazon for it, and some libraries carry it.

i would not say outdated, it's more than there is so much more info in the 2nd one, and, of course, compared to when she wrote the first book, sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners are marketed now. a lot has changed on the curly/natural hair front since 2000!
it's so cheap it's worth the price, honestly! even if you come away with two more tips.... and the dvd is a great visual.
and, as i stated before, many libraries carry it so you don't even have to buy it.
or, go to a book store and browse and read thru it and decide if you want to purchase it.
