So how long do you think it would take since i have thick hair? Basically your saying I should just let my hair grow out and then cut it very short? And also, how can I tell my natural hair coming from the roots, to my permed hair?[/QUOTE]
The thickness of your hair doesn't matter when growing out a relaxer. The average rate of growth for hair is 1/2 inch per month. So you can estimate 2 - 3 years of no relaxer to have your natural curls back to the length of your hair right now. If you don't want to transition for that long, dealing with having both textures, you can transition for a shorter period of time and then cut the relaxed end off leaving a TWA (teeny weeny Afro).
As far as telling the difference between the two textures, you will definitely know. Once you stop getting relaxers, any hair that grows is new growth and will be your natural hair.
There is no quick fix. Once you relax your hair, you have chemically altered that hair forever. And there is no chemical way to reverse it. The only thing that works is time.
I suggest watching YouTube videos on transitioning to natural hair. There is also a transitioning thread here. You can find out everything you need to know to get started transitioning just by googling and YouTube.
Hope this helps and welcome back to the natural world.
