High Density. High Porosity. Low Elasticity.
Is there anybody out there who has hair like me? Very dense/thick hair, with high porosity and low elasticity?
What is your hair regime/what products do you use? How do you cut your hair? Any tips?

I think my hair might be very similar as well. I found (and this completely surprised me) that my hair seems to love protein. I do follow my PTs with DTs to make sure my hair has enough moisture, but I have tried to OD on protein and haven't been able to yet.

My hair is like this, and I've seen a great decrease in frizz by just moisturizing the hell out of it. My hair sucks up moisture like a sponge and loves it, so I do DTs often. My hair hates protein, so I tend to avoid it. It also likes (very few) cones, but I keep an eye on it building up, and so far so good with that. I use LA Looks sports gel, and for cowashing, Fruitopia Curls and Waves, and for DTs Garnier Triple Nutrition 3-Minute Dryness Reversal. I tried Suave naturals, but my hair frizzed because it wasn't moisturizing enough. I find that I need a condition that's a little heavier.

I'll have to find out what PTs and DTs are.
Yes. Maybe protein is the answer for me. My hair is currently LOVING the heck out of TIGI's Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier (the original turqouise bottle). With the diffuser... it gives my hair a medium hold. Lovely, lovely curls, body, and got rid of 95% of the frizz. Too bad my hair needs a stronger hold, because after a few hours, my hair goes *fart sound* And it becomes flat, frizzy, and ugly again. Sigh.
So then, I have this sample of Ouidad's Moisturizing Gel and I brought TIGI's Catwalk Leave-In Conditioner. I mix all these three together, along with curl clips and the diffuser. For some weird reason, my hair looks not as good as with just the TIGI Amplifier by itself. (With the diffuser, of course!)
Maybe... Maybe, I can just stick with the amplifier, but add another product so that it can give it a stronger hold...
So yeah, your hair looks A HELLA LOT like my hair. I'm almost stunned when I saw your pictures. I think we might be hair twins.
Well, I hear that highly porous hair needs protein while hair with low elasticity needs moisture. So maybe we all need both?

PT = protein treatment. I love IAGirl's recipe- it's easy and cheap to make at home and has given me amazing results
DT = deep (conditioner) treatment. So far my favorite is One n' Only Argan Oil Hydrating Mask (make sure you get the Hydrating Mask and not the Restorative Mask- Hydrating Mask is the only cone-free product in the whole line)
I set aside about an hour or so one night each week and low-poo my hair, then do PT under heat followed by DT under heat. Especially if you have coarser hair, make sure to follow protein with moisture to avoid the straw feeling that some people can get from protein. The finer your hair is, the less this seems to be an issue. (I'm waiting on Curl Genie results because my hair seems to love protein way more than it should). The protein is also amazing for boosting curl definition.
The Curls Rock Amplifier is the aeresol spray, right? Have you tried layering a hard hold gel over top? Or since you already diffuse, you might want to consider the SMasters technique. A lot of people do this with KCCC, but I've found I prefer Biotera Gel for this instead.

Thank you for the explanations!
Nah, the product you're talking about is the curl booster. The curl amplifier is more of a cream. And yeah, I should used a hard hold gel...

Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel
I used that last summer. It REALLY worked for my hair. I remember using this after cowashing my hair with this conditioner:

v05 Champagne Kiss Moisturizing Conditioner
These two together made my hair look soooo nice and shiny and frizz-free, even under the hot summer sun.
Maybe you can give these products a try. You never know.
Thanks again!

It's possible. My hair in particular seems to be defiant of logic. But I knew I needed protein even before I went CG, so I overloaded it with protein, and now that's pretty much the last thing my hair needs. Once it gets moisturized enough, I'm sure it'll crave protein all over again.

Well guys, I'm not feeling too happy right now. I've wasted so much money on different products (Even L.A. Sports Gel)... and my hair won't behave one bit. It looks gorgeous after diffusing my hair, but after a while... my hair becomes poofy, non-defined, dry, etc...
Maybe my hair needs a treatment? My hair is pretty dry and static-y right now, and where I live the air is extremely cold.
Do I need a protein treatment? Or a deep moisture treatment? Or maybe even both? :S

I find that my hair is happiest when I do both a protein treatment and a deep conditioning treatment once each week.
