*I'm desperate for clumps!* :)

I get great clumping by apply everything upside down, never using a comb, & USING the microfiber towel to scrunch, never fingers.

Cleanse: Curls unleashed shampoo
Leave-in: KCKT, Curlsunleashed leave in.
Style: Argan oil
DT: Aussie 3 min. miracle or olive/coconut oil.
I leave my hair dripping wet and apply a leave in conditioner then my gel. No raking, then I squeeze out excess water but I have to leave enough water in for my hair to look plump still.

I've tried raking, combing, scrunching, accordianing & plopping in every combination & I can't seem to get clumps since the weather has turned cold & dry. I can't wait for spring to have good hair again!!
Current products-- TJ Nourish cowash (1x/week), Too Shea rinsed a bit, Aloeba leave in, pink Boots, HEBE (just got JoiWhip to try instead of BE)
(your hair is gorgeous BTW-- I'm so jealous of your shine & lack of frizz!)
TIA!

Girlfriend don't look at today's pics I was getting some halo frizz ew! Thank you, the lack of frizz is mostly just how my hair is and not my process or products. Thank goodness for genetics!

The best clumps come generally when I don't rake but I can't stand the in between curl frizz so I generally rake. You should try it both ways and see how it works best for you.

When I rinse my conditioner out I do it with my head tipped down. I get out of the shower that was and scrunch handfuls of my hair to get some of the water out so I dont' drip real fast. I just move my hand around so I get it all, just scrunch from the ends like Jess does in her videos at jessicurl.com

Then I smooth my leave in over the underside (which is facing up since I'm hanging my head upside down) and then scrunch some into my ends and rake that through. I scrunch from the bottom again in handsfuls until I feel my leave in suck up the water and clump up my hair. This is an important step for me.
I don't generally HAVE to rake gel. I just smooth it on the underside, my sides and then flip up and smooth over my canopy, then flip back over and scrunch real well until I feel my hair clump up.
Then I use papertowels to scrunch some water out.

Generally speaking any raking is done with wetter hair that is more lubricated and scrunching only once my hair is dryer and say has gel or mousse in it.

There is the link to the jess videos. I can't personally use her stylers but Tooshea is fab and her process for applying styler and drying is good.

If it smells good put it in your hair, if it tastes good spit it out!
Wow--what you're considering a frizz day I can only wish for! You did get some great hair genes-- if only you could could bottle them & share!

Thanks a bunch for the tips... I should write them down to bring into the bathroom for reference. Some mornings I stand in the shower with my hair dripping clueless as to what the heck to do next. I'll definitely give papertowels a shot--maybe that'll help with the frizz.

Yayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!

Ok, now the reason for my excitement:

I'm new to the site, and I've been browsing pictures for days. I was beginning to think that nobody had hair like mine, but I think I've found you.

Soooooo....

Any of you girls who think this hair looks familiar:
(This was an okay hair day, not great, but not too bad either)

Let me know! I would love tips from people who have similar hair. Typically my hair has a lot more volume than this and is a lot poofier and frizzier. I would love help with getting more clumping and less frizz and perfecting a night time routine so that I don't have to walk to classes in a snow storm with wet hair. Oh, I'm also looking for tips/ suggestions for getting it cut which I'm going to do soon.

P.S.
Does anybody find that they absolutely adore EVERY other curly head on this website and think that they are all absolutely beautiful, yet they can't stand their own?

*nods vigorously*

Absolutely. I have total hair envy towards everyone's hair (at least those with albums that I've looked at) in this community. And yet, I still have a like/hate relationship regarding my own.

Ya'll are going to make my head too big to walk through doors!
I'll be sure to bottle up those genes as soon as I figure out how!

A12, I've already said my peice on clumping I just wanted to say you have lovely hair!
OH wait the one thing I haven't said yet about clumping for my hair anyway is if I don't have enough oil in the winter seems like I get umclumped hair. That B2b condish I use has peach oil in it, the new condish I just tried out has almond oil in it. I don't like too many oils but oils close to our own sebum help me with clumping. If my hair is super free of oils seems like they want to spread out more.

For me, Deva One C as a conditioner and leave in gives me great clumps.
