Has anyone heard of it? It's in Connecticut. I've watched some YouTube videos by the owner...she seems really concerned with healthy hair. Offers something called Gina Curl...to loosen natural texture...or help people grow out relaxers without a big chop. Sounds pretty cool!

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free,maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.

Her "Gina Curl" is the thermal reconditioning aka Japanese Thermal Straightening. It's the main thing she does at her salons, she even teaches classes and seminars on it regularly. She does care about healthy hair but she specializes in this chemical treatment and that is her focus. If you want to wear your hair naturally curly, she could help but you might want to look into a salon that embraces naturally curly hair more, since that's not really her thing.

Edit: I wanted to clarify that she does help people transition out of relaxers, but she does it by transitioning them into thermal reconditioning, so basically trading one form of chemical relaxer for another. I did a lot of research into her business when I was transitioning because I thought her services would be useful, but when I realized that she was more into the TR than anything and didn't really do hair in its natural state, I passed on the whole thing.

I was just providing the information so that there was no misunderstanding. For some people "grow out a relaxer without the big chop" implies that you are no longer wanting to use chemicals on your hair. If that does not apply to you, then that's cool too.

Ok...I don't have a relaxer in...my tangles are just crazy and I would like to loosen it some...my hair dresser plans to do something to help me out...not sure what she plans to do...but I trust her. I just saw the adds for Gina Curl...and wondered if it was similar.

Hi Guys, It's Gina here.
I'm happy I found you so I can clarify the services we provide at Hair's Talent here in Connecticut.
The Gina Curl is not the thermal reconditioning nor the Japanese straightening.
The Gina curl is a Thio. base perm that uses perm rods to make curl, stretching a natural 4A 4B texture and giving the hair a looser curl. Yes, it is a chemical and yes the thermal reconditioning is a chemical, but when done correctly it is life changing for those that are used to hair breakage, due to the hands of stylist that rush through their chemical services or just have no idea how to manage healthy hair care.
I have many clients that have long healthy hair and I relax them with a sodium hydroxide relaxers.
We too service natural hair care, shaping, shine and moisture treatment and styling.
I use a thermal or my curl to help grow out a relaxer.
This is something I've been doing for years. The good thing is,you don't have to keep up with a thermal or a Gina Curl like you would a relaxer.
