Default How can I get shine?

When I was straightening my hair, I used shine sprays but those are off limits now. I'm finding that wearing my hair curly really cuts down on the shine factor. Are there any CG approved products I can use to boost shine?

I find that of all the CG products I've used, flaxseed gel gives my hair the most lustre. I also love how soft my hair is with FSG. I make my own now, but first used Jessicurl Gelebration Spray, then Rockin Ringlets. I find that although people recommend lighter sprays for my ridiculously fine hair, I personally like harder hold gels, which I can use in lower quantities, though I've never found any amount of the homemade FSG seems to weigh my hair down (and it's really easy and cheap to make).

Do you add anything to your FSG?

I use Burt's Bees Super Shiny conditioner. It actually does make my hair have a good amount of shine, and the ingredients are all natural so no cones or anything bad. Plus it smells like grapefruit which I love.

I'm finding that oils, especially argan oil, give me lots of shine. Also, using L'Oreal Eversleek (I think)'s leave-in helps a lot!

Yep. I second the oil too. A drop or two of coconut or almond oil adds shine to my hair. Any more though and I end up with a greasy mess... so less is better.

I add epsom salts, aloe vera gel, (lavender) essential oil, and grapefruit seed extract to my flaxseed gel.

Thanks all... lots of things to try here. I love FSG and have added a small amount of oil to it but apparently not enough to get great shine. I'm afraid of ruining my batch!

That stuff is incredible for fighting frizz. I have 2c hair, very coarse, and FSG actually makes my hair look like a whole new finer texture. Nothing short of a miracle!
