Just realized that I have curly hair (crazy!)
Hi. I'm new to this forum because about a week or so ago, I realized that I have wavy/curly hair. I have fine hair, but a lot of it and I just started the no-poo method. It has already made a HUGE difference and i am hoping to encourage even more curl. I chose 2C hair...but I'm not completely sure. It seems to be getting curlier. Could any of you ladies tell me what you think about my curls and if I can encourage them more?
Attaching a wet pic.
Thanks so much! I LOVE all the pics of your beautiful curly hair!

Wow your hair looks fantastic already, it's so pretty. Since you know your hair is fine, it would probably like a protein treatment (most fine hair does really well with protein). I like IAgirl's recipe that she posted on the forums because it's cheap and super easy to make (if you search them, you should be able to find it easily), but there are also commercial products like Aphogee 2 Step (found at Sally's). I usually leave IAgirl's PT on for anywhere from half an hour to an hour, because if I leave it on less, I can't tell much difference.
Now after you do a protein treatment, your hair may feel very dry, in which case you'll need to get some moisture back in via a deep treatment. I personally like GVP Conditioning Balm for mine. Honestly a lot of the trouble curly girls have is finding a balance between protein and moisture.

Thank you! I can't believe it took me 41 years to see the potential in my own hair. This is me, with straight hair. It's always been a little frizzy and pretty dry.
I will look into a protein treatment, at your recommendation. I will also look up the user you mentioned for advice.

Did I hear my name? Here's a link to the long PT post. There are some good versions posted by people with dry hair.

You aren't alone. There is a whole group of us who were old before we realized our hair wasn't poofy or frizzy or straight but doesn't dry straight. It's wavy. I was in my late 30's when I figured it out.
Your hair looks great and I give a +1 to the recommendation for protein treatments. Especially IAgirl's PT. Love.

I won't lie...I feel a bit foolish about now. But hey, I'll claim ignorance because reallly, I only ever had some teaser curls underneath. The rest was just frizz as far as I was concerned. An article I read on Pinterest led me to a blog and that blog led me here. I have learned SO much in just a week.
I cannot wait to find the perfect "formula" for my hair so I can enjoy it fully.
Your hair color is GORGEOUS, btw. I just love it!

The road to getting your perfect hair "formula" may be long and change depending on things like the environment, but it's definitely worth it when you have that really good hair day that you didn't know was possible and don't feel foolish, I think all of us had a starting place where we needed help from someone more knowledgeable

LOL about the bat signal! I have to be wearing my cape and mask and tights and then I hear the distant cry -- somebody needs a PT! Hee hee.
I always have had wavy hair, but I was 36 when I decided to stop wearing it always tied up and learn to style it - and that wavy hair is okay to wear in all it's loveliness. NC.com has been my guide!
