Dear Wannabe Hair Model
I'm guessing you want results that leave it really defined, soft, and shiny. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but there's a reason that people use hair models for hair product ads.
I think to get a good idea of techniques you can use, you should go to youtube and check out the devacurl, jessicurl, hair rules, and ouidad videos. They seem to feature a lot of curly people that have hair in your type.
Also make sure you have a gentle shampoo, moisturizing conditioner/oils, and a good gel. I personally use Ouidad's climate control heat and humidity gel. It has good hold, but it's watery and slippery. I can spread it throughout my hair without a problem and I have fine, kinky/curly, 3c hair. If the gel gets too hard, I can always take an oil and "scrunch out the crunch". Ouidad's expensive, so the gel is the only thing I willingly bought. It's good, but herbal essences gels are similar to it and cheaper.
