Default Outer Curls

I have be on the CG method for about a month. While it has definitely helped my curls, I'm having some trouble. My outer curls became more like waves. I know that my hair is curly. The underneath and front part of my hair turns into tight spirals. It seems like the top layer of my hair is just refusing to curl the same way. Any tips?

The outer layer of hair is referred to as your "canopy." It's typical for the canopy to be less curly because it's the hair that is "exposed" to the elements. Because it's exposed, it's a little bit dryer then the rest of your hair. Just treat it with TLC (a DT possibly??) and make sure you get the products there if you put them in upside down.
