Default Itchy Scalp

Hey everyone. So I've always had oily skin and an oily scalp. Recently, my scalp has been itchy, so I've been cowashing 3-4 times a week. It's driving me crazy! Any advice?

Have you tried a co-wash with mint in it? I find mint/menthol really soothes my scalp. I know some type of mint/menthol is in DevaCurl No-Poo, Curl Junkie Daily Fix, and Queen Helene Mint Julep (a low-poo), because I buy them specifically for the cooling sensation!

A product that helps me with itching any time/place is Hawaiian Silky Miracle Worker 14-in-1 Spray. (Yes, the name is ridiculous). I spray it on my hair and leave it under my sleep cap all night, and it soothes any itchies. It also makes my hair really soft and smooth. It has both chamomile and menthol, which feel so good on the scalp, but, unlike a cleanser, it can be used at any time. You can spray it or rub right on itchy spots and it works immediately.

I also use pure jojoba oil, rosewater and glycerin, and witch hazel on my scalp, depending upon the severity of the itches and the condition of my hair. (If my hair is dry, I avoid the witch hazel because it's so astringent.) For me, the mint/menthol helps the most, though.

I've been having scalp issues for a while myself and I think I might have found a combo that works........argan oil mixed with a few drops of rosemary essential oil. I massage my whole head with this the night before I wash my hair and I really feel like it's made a difference. Good luck!!!!!!

I have had scalp difficulties forever. I have a few things that have helped. One is green tea. I brew a cup, pour it over my head and let it sit for a while and then rinse. I've used a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in one cup of water and poured that on my head. I let it sit for a while and then rinse. I have also used raw honey that I let sit on my scalp for a few hours. That one is a pain, but it works well for my scalp condition. I wet my hair and rub in a few tablespoons of raw honey. There is a thread about that somewhere on here. I co-wash with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle. Like gardencurls, I find that the minty/cooling thing really helps. And, I've just been recently co-washing with the Trader Joe's Nourish Spa. I think the rosemary oil in it is really helping my scalp.

hippiechic81, how much argan oil are you using to mix with the rosemary oil? What's the approximate ratio?

Brown sugar scrubs. Mix about a tablespoon of olive oil and a a tablespoon of brown sugar together and add a few drops of either tea tree oil or rosemary oil. Massage the mixture into your scalp before you shower on dry hair. I do this over the tub so the mess is contained! low poo it out.
