Default Fine hair that needs weight?

Sounds strange right? When I use just gel, I end up with hair that is very light, kind of floaty feeling (not staticy or sticking out).

I feel like I have to use a decent amount of curl cream or leave in to give it some weight which is counterintuitive to fine hair

I have tried:
Recoil -ok, but not very curl enhancing for me
Be Curly-I have used it off and on for yrs but it often gives me a bit of frizz
Max Green Texture Paste- good but no hold and sometimes too heavy
CJ CCCL- never really got the hang of this one
Curls Rock- yuck! Pulled my hir straight. I can't handle too many cones
Aquage Curl defining cream - same as Curls Rock

Any suggestions of others to try?

Default Same here

I have very similar hair and same haircut as your photo-inverted bob.The curl creme almost acts like an emolient because the gel is so drying so it keep it weight down and not flyaway sorta.

My hair is fine and thin in density, too. I use a lot of "richer" products in minute amounts. My hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique companies. It does better when I rotate products. I wet, rinse out and style every day, but seldom use any one product more then once in 5 days.

You can see most of my favorites in my signature.

I have very good luck with FSG and Okra gel

Hair: 2a or 3a (not sure), very porous and fine as frog hair
Day 1: Cowash and condition with AO GPB, ACV Rinse,
Co-Kra gel (this stuff is fantastic)

Day 2: KCKT, KCCC, plop, KCCC, plop again, air dry
Day 3: Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Coil Jam
Day 4: IAGirl's PT, KBB DT, FSG

Co-Kra gel is my own concoction of okra boiled in coconut milk. It is a cross between FSG and KCCC and leaves my hair very soft and shiny

how about sealing with a tiny bit of oil? I have really fine, fluffy hair at my neck and I tried finger curling it with a bit of EVOO. So far they're staying put and clumping with the added weight (and moisture! whoohoo!)
