I was out picking up some products that some members suggested and I came across La Bella Super Spikes gel. I don't use any cones or protein and I'm pretty sure this is okay, right?

The ingredients are:

water, sucrose, Triethanolamine, sorbitol, carbomer, Propylene Glycol, PVP, Polsysorbate 20, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance, Isosteareth-20, Methylparaben, Benzophenone-4, Tetrasodium EDTA, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, VP/VA Copolymer

The benzophenone-4 is water soluble, right? Just want to be sure...

Looks fine to me and I don't really know if that is water soluble, I think so

sucrose? what is that in there for? that's white sugar...in hair gel? does it provide the structure?

Ondulee - Hmm...I don't know why there's sucrose in there, good question. I'll have to do a search and see what I find.

Mcfrizzy - I'm pretty sure it's water soluble but figured I would check here in case anyone knows different.

I read that sucrose conditions and moisturizes hair and that it aids in "tackiness and hold."

er, to me tackiness means sticky...but maybe I'm wrong.

That is weird about the sucrose.... it's so high up on the ingrediant list too which makes me think it would make your hair really, really sticky.

This gel looks like it's more on the harder-hold side. If you're looking for a hard-hold might I suggest LA Looks Sport? I use it frequently and like it, though if you over do it your hair can get kinda sticky too (at least on my dry, coarse sections it does).
