Hello!
I was wondering, what kind of hairstyle did you do for your prom or a big dance? Did you wear it natural ? If so, what did you do with it?

My first prom, my mom made me straighten.
For the second one, I went natural but enhanced with a curling iron and a giant ivory flower. I'll find a picture if you want; I have 2c/3a hair and at the time it was a little bit above BSL. It was a fun look.

I wore mine mostly in my natural curl with a few tweaks from a curling iron just to make the curls smoother and more formal looking, then I pinned the one side back so I had a sidesweepy thing going on. I liked it a lot!

I wore it curly and then just used bobby pins to pin it all on top of my head. Not very creative. But my brother is getting married this year so I'm on the lookout for better curly updos.

Wow, all your hairstyles sound great! If you have a picture I would love to see it! Also, what hair types are you guys? Do you think a curling iron would work on 3b hair?

My prom? OMG, do you know how long ago that was? Think the '60's. I didn't know I had wavy/curly hair - at that time no one ever let their hair dry naturally, we rolled it on brush rollers and slept on them, yes slept on them. For my prom my hair was just about chin length, I had bangs and teased the crown. The ends were curled slightly under. Kind of like a 'bubble head' barbie style. I would die before I teased my hair now, really!

BTW, curly wiglets were popular then also. The hair was styled as an undo and the wiglet attached.

It was back in the time when Titanic came out, and I tried to copy one of Rose's hairstyles. A fancy updo with a few loose ringlets and a two strands ''diamond'' necklace worn as a kind of headband.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again.

If you go to a salon to get your hair done, but want to use your natural curl, don't let them bully you into something you don't want!

Exactly what happened to me. I said I wanted my natural curl, but the stylist combed out my hair and said, "But why? Look how puffy undefined it is. Let me curl it." Well DUH, you COMBED the curl out woman! So, I had to let her curl it with an iron. :/

I was so afraid to speak up, and wish I had. My hair wasn't damaged, but the fact that she went against what I truly wanted and deliberately made my hair yucky for the time being was hurtful.
