Would love some feedback on my hair...with pics

Just a little history...I've highlighted my hair for as long as I can remember. I hate my brown hair. I had my hair in a short bob but decided to start growing it out 3 years ago. About 2 years ago, I went to a new girl for highlights. She bleached me and KILLED my hair. Someone suggested the Joico K-pak but also failed to mention it was full of protein and not to use it every day. So...weeks later I was finally told not to use it every day. I switched to Biolage Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioning Balm...LOVE that stuff. I've kept up with regular trimmings. Found another new girl who is fabulous.

The past year or so I've used Matrix Sleek Shampoo and Conditioner. Love the conditioner...so I've continued with it while using up whatever shampoo I have.

Today, I'm just so tired of drying my hair straight. And my ends are what bother me. They look fried. I'm guessing it is the last part of the bleach job that I haven't trimmed off...so it is the reason I'm looking for help. I really want to try and reduce the heat. Not sure I can reduce my bleaching...but I am fine with going darker in winter months and lighter in the summer. I am actually seeing a highly recommended girl next week who is fantastic with wavies. So excited.

What I've done the past 2 days...

day 1 evening DT with EVOO. Used Tresemme Naturals Moisturizing POO and Dish. Followed up with It's a 10 and Biosilk Therapy Serum. Scrunched and let air dry.

day 2 am - wet hair in shower. scrunched in a little more biosilk therapy and air dried. It looked ok. But not great.

day 2 pm - (copy and pasted from my hair journal) Wet hairand put Tresemme dish on midshaft to ends. Then used a mixture of lemon juice and Tresemme dish for clarification. Rinsed. Co washed with Tresemme dish. Rinsed. Used Garnier FructisTriple Therapy Dish as a RO, combed it through and scrunched it in. OMG love the stuff. Let soak as I finished shower. Rinsed out. Blotted hair with microfiber towel. Used small bit of GFTT dish as leave-in. Also used Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Gel. Scrunched it in soaking wet hair. Then plopped. After 5 minutes, removed my towel and added more HETT. First thoughts, really curly while stillwet. Let air dry. Looks really good. Hate to sleep on it. Borrowed a pillow case from my daughter…itwasn’t satin, but it feels smoother than my cotton.

day 3 am -
Hair looksflat. Used spray bottle just to dampenhair, then rescrunched with microfiber towel. Did not add any more product. Looks ok. Not as great as lastnight. But much better than yesterday.
Ok...so today is day 3...in case you are wondering. And the pics below are from this morning. Sorry for the blur and location. Am at work.
Any suggestions? I'm not crazy with myself over using biosilk...I didn't know any better. My hair hates protein. But I used to use it years ago before the bob and horrible bleach job.
Any suggestions? Products, techniques, ANYTHING...lol I think I'm a 2c...but I'm open to comments. I'm learning. Tried the no poo method in the past but this time I am really learning and taking notes!!
I will probably DT with my EVOO weekly...my hair loves that stuff. Soaks it up. Don't remember how much til I do it again. Or is EVOO too much for weekly?
Oh, and my hair is flat at the top...as you can see. How do I fix that?

My hair doesn't have the same properties as yours, and I don't color my hair, but I do have an idea or two I can share in case it helps. (Although it would seem to go again conventional wisdom, I've picked up great tips that worked for my hair from curlies who weren't at all my "hair twins".)

Your hair loves that you're giving up on blow drying it straight (or blow frying as Lorraine Massey calls it). If it's been a while since your last trim, a new trim from an experienced curly hair stylists might help with how your hair lays, plus it would get rid of more of the bleach-damaged ends.

Adding a humectant to your DT might help (I don't know what the dew points are like this time of year where you are). I make up my own deep conditioner using 1 tbls each of Honey (a humectant), EVOO, and DC One Condition, but I also use commercial DTs like Curl Junkie Curl Rehab (and other CJ conditioners) with really good results.

Other routines that might help are sealing to help hold in moisture and doing oil rinses. I had been sealing with coconut oil (which my hair soaks in really easily, and which I usually use when doing oil rinses), but just this week I sealed with Donna Marie Super Buttercreme over a little Curl Junkie Beauticurl Argan & Olive Oil Daily Conditioner that I used as a leave in, and I've been *loving* how my hair has been behaving ever since. I'm definitely keeping it in my rotation of products.

I hope there's something there that helps!

Finally, ive heard from many looking for curl definition/enhancement that using AG: REcoil and curl keeper together worked great. I never tried it so im not sure but i do think that AG:Recoil would bring out more curl since it has magnesium sulfate but not everyones hair likes this.
Lo-poorganix Shea butter shampoo
Co-wash: suave coconut
Rinse out:GFTN/GVP conditioning balm
Leave in: GF daily care spray leave in
Serum-like product: still need one
Gel:LA looks sport gel/ HESMU,GFPC
Oils: olive, coconut

I think I'm normal-overly porous, medium-thick hair(although I see fine hair too), love protein
I don't know the ingredients for It's a 10, but I thought I saw cones in many of their products. The Biosilk is loaded with cones- I used to use it all the time before I started learning about CG. At the time I had already switched to Deva products and my hair had serious frizz, probably from cone buildup. If you're using a cleanser that removes cones it probably won't be an issue, but if you're looking to co-wash exclusively, these products could cause problems for you. The products already suggested are good ones. I read of another wavy doing a DT of coconut oil and olive oil mixed together- I'm tempted to try it myself.

Re:coil is my favorite curl cream, but some people find the mag sulfate drying, so you might want to be careful with that until you've gotten your moisture balance figured out a little more. Many wavies diffuse their hair to get extra volume and curl enhancement. As long as you use a low to medium heat setting you won't do further damage to your hair.

Your have beautiful waves and I'm sure they're going to look even more fabulous with some more TLC!

You have some nice waves!

I would go through your products and make sure you don't use the ones with cones or sulfates. Some of the ones you have are ok but others have cones.

What kind of product suggestions do you want? Low poo, conditioner, etc?
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

Thanks to all of you for replying. I was getting frustrated earlier when no one was replying. But after researching all day I think I appreciate more what all of you are telling me.

I live in Tennessee where in the summer it's hot and humid. Winters can be anything. It's dry with gas heat in the house and I'm always running a humidifier.

I told my husband that I know he likes long straight blonde hair but honestly my hair is just not in good shape and that I may be curly brown and short hair comenext week but it is for a short time. Haha he could care less. It's me that is stressing...

After reading a little more I've went through pretty much all my products. I've gotten rid most except except now I'm only using suave clarifying when needed. Then using tresemme naturals poo and dish, Garnier frutiste triple therapy as a dt and leave in. And the rock hard jelly as my styling product. Plop for 10 minutes. Scrunched more brhg which I think was too much now. Used microfiber towel as my scruncher. Air dried.

My questions/thoughts are....what is up with my roots? Is plopping not good? How about clipping? Next thought is oh my gosh... Attempting to dry and flat iron is so much easier and faster....then what will work think? At this point I will use the kids are wearing me out...we have 4 between the 2 of us. Lol

I also want to know when should I be doing to cg method? I get up at 445 in the am and get home at 3 but then I'm doing homework, laundry, and dinner. Hubby is self employed and it's crazy this time of year. So whatever is quickest and has the best outcome. But if I need to be in bed earlier and up earlier then that's what I have to do. I'm just tired of fighting it. Right now I do my shower around 4 pm just to refresh myself from the day and to switch modes but should I be doing my process in the am so I get the results the full day instead of rewetting in the am by damping with a spray bottle...pretty much which routine will give me more sleep and make me the happiest with my hair lol!

What do you think? Any product you are worried with or think I should be using? I'm actually really wondering about whether or not my hair really like evoo. Also is there an alternative to the Gftn I love it except now the smell has drove me crazy. How about Sally's version of the biolage conditioning balm?

I'm stopping now... I'm rambling and typing thoughts now lol. Thanks to all of you again. I'm tired but excited all at the same time for embracing my curls!!!

Clipping could help with root volume if you don't want to diffuse. As far as when to do everything, that will probably be trial and error. I generally cleanse my hair in the morning when I shower, but there are also plenty of people who wash their hair at night. If you decide to wash at night the biggest challenge is getting good 2nd day hair. Your hair looks like it might be a little short for pineappling, but you could try a satin cap at night. Some people leave their hair plopped overnight. In the morning, you would probably still have to do some minimal styling (light spritz with water, some additional product, etc), but it wouldn't be as much as if you had cleansed in the morning.

The Sally's GVP conditioning balm is very moisturizing- the only reason I don't like it as much as GFTN is because I don't feel like it has as much slip. And I would definitely use BRHG sparingly- I typically use about a pea-sized drop for my hair.

I think I will stick with the Gftn I'll eventually get used to the smell and it won't bother me.

I think I did use too much brhg. Will def. use less. I'm going to look into the cap. And before clipping I will definitely try diffusing.

Thanks so much for the feedback it just helps validate some things and steer me in the right direction for others!

If you're sensitive to particular scents, you could look into buying an unscented conditioner base and adding (or not) whatever scent you prefer.

There's a thread from quite a while ago here in the Gen Discussion forum on bases Different company--same EXACT ingredients in product- I didn't notice UGH!, plus a sticky at the top of the 4a forum on bases.

On both of those threads, there were various bases identified that get very good reviews, plus base are generally *much* cheaper than what you pay for other, manufacturer's products that are almost identical.
