Sallys Beyond the Zone Noodle Head Line

Anybody use them with good results? I don't think they are CG but I used to use them years ago like when I was a freshman in high school years ago and I was looking at old pictures today of myself and my curls looked really good. My curls look good now that I'm CG (off and on for over a year....more on than off) but I feel like it's much more of a process and hassle to get good curls this way. Idk maybe I'm just frustrated cuz my hair hasn't been behaving lately...frizz frizz frizz! Any tips or opinions? Do you think I could use noodle head but still barely use shampoo or would that just cause too much build up? Thanks!

Omg!! I just recently fell in love with the curl cream! I absolutely love it. I'm not really CG but almost all of my products are CG friendly.

I used a sulfate free shampoo last nite and felt for buildup. Everything is just fine. I think you may want to use a sulfate shampoo once a month tho just to clarify.

I'm thinking about trying the whole line!

I'm an off/on CG too.

I used the entire line, except for the mousse when I was pre-CG, and loved it at the time. The shampoo and curl cream are not CG, but the mousse is CG friendly. I'm iffy on whether the Curl Spray (Dimethicone PEG-7 Phosphate) and Conditioner Dimethicone PEG-8 Meadowfoamate) are or are not. Maybe someone more knowledgeable about ingredients can chime in on those.

Other than the cones in the conditioner /stylers, and the sulfates /silicones in the shampoo, you might look at the other ingredients in the Noodle Head line. Everything has some sort of protein in it, some have aloe and glycerin (humectants), and some have salts (table salt, mag sulfate) that act as curl boosters. If you hair looked better pre-CG, maybe it likes more protein than you're giving it or more humectants.

You can use any of the CG friendly Noodle Head stuff without shampooing, since it all washes out with a cowash. If you want to use the non-CG stuff, you'll need a low poo every so often to cut the silicone buildup. It doesn't have to be a sulfate poo, something with Cocamidopropyl Betaine will work.

I've tried the mousse a couple times after I went CG, and I think my hair hates the high glycerin content. Crazy frizz both times... I went back to gels.

Thank for the replies! Sorry should've specified I used to use the curl cream and spray only. Didn't even know there was a mousse!!planning a trip to sallys tomorrow and seriously considering picking these up

I totally LOVE the Noodle Head curl cream! I don't use it daily, but it is in my rotation, and I especially love it in the summer. I have never had any issues with it building up.

I wanted to love that spray, but I honestly felt like it did nothing for my hair. It does smell nice, so if anything it was a decent day 2 refresher, but I would never repurchase.

All the BTZ products are buy 2, get 1 free this month!!!

Went to sallys and picked up the curl cream, mouse and spray. I just couldn't resist. Gonna use them tomorrow and see how it turns out.

Also the GVP K PAC thing was on clearance for 2.49 each! I bought like 3....all they had left. Sure hope it's not being discontinued....

This mousse made me believe in mousse (I hadn't used mousse in over a decade)! It's better than any gel or cream I've ever tried. There are some tricks to applying it, but once you learn what works for you, you get beautiful, soft hair that even holds up in the wind (it still blows everywhere, but then it just falls back into place). Another cool thing is that it makes your hair look SO shiny! You have got to try it! I have enough hair for 10 people, and it works for me! ;)

Ive been tempted to try this brand. Does it work with fine 2/3 hair?

curlyev 03-07-2012 10:29 AM

I am 3a with fine hair (I just have a ton of it lol), and it works well for me!

beeduh 03-07-2012 10:52 AM

Which ones would be considered CG?

Corrina777 03-07-2012 10:56 AM

The last time I was in Sally's I was looking at these. I believe only the mousse is considered CG.

The only thing I have seen that is CG is the mousse, but I am going to look at the ingredients on the others and see if by chance there's anything else. I'll let you know, I'm curious myself!

These aren't from the Noodle Head Line, but they are from Beyond the Zone, so they may be good.

Beyond The Zone The Scruncher (I'm excited to try this one-I've never seen it before)

Beyond The Zone Last Call Hair Masque

Beyond The Zone Retro Vinyl Firm Finish Gel

Beyond the Zone Retro Vinyl Firm Hold Hair Spritz

Beyond The Zone Super Sexy Wave Spray (another intriguing one)

Beyond The Zone Power Lift Volumizing Booster

(some of these must be new lines, time to head to Sallys lol)

Curlyev, I think you're my Curl Twin! Every time I look up products I see your posts and I always think they sound just like me. We love So many of the same products. I use almost the same regimen, too! In June I'm moving to Phoenix so I'm currently trying products recommended for low dew points. I'm worrying I'll lose my curls now that I actually enjoy them...

curlyev 03-11-2012 10:09 PM

Yay, I have a curl twin!!! This makes me very happy! ;)

curlyev 03-11-2012 10:13 PM

I live in Oklahoma, and I am dreading the ridiculous humidity that will be coming very quickly!!!

gardencurls 03-13-2012 09:54 PM

Curlyev - Haha - we can be "test subjects" and compare results! Your curls look gorgeous! I love the color, too. (I demi-permanent color my hair to try to get your color!) Before I decided to wear my hair curly I dreaded humidity SO much. Now I actually prefer any humidity to dryness (for hair), which sounds crazy, I know. I guess it's mostly because I've learned how to work with curls in humidity and moderate dew points. Last time I was in AZ, I felt like I had less hair, and my hair had no "zing". I was using my "usual" products, and not trying to modify for the 4 degree dew point. I always notice curls now, and it seemed like there were way fewer curly heads in AZ than I see here in SoCal. (Maybe I'm just paranoid about moving to another state after living here for 24 years...)

I know you love Sally's the way I do. Have you tried the Ion Curl Shaping Creme? I'm loving it these days. It's actually better for keeping bounce in my curls than KCCC.

curlyev 03-13-2012 10:21 PM

Hey curl twin!!! Thank you for your sweet compliments! My hair can handle humidity during the Summer, but it takes Spring to adjust. It really is better than dry though, I agree. I have not tried the ION curl shaping creme, but I definitely will! I need (okay want) to go to Sally's anyway!!! Any other "must tries?" ;)
