I recently brought the CJ repair me and daily fix conditioners.

This past Sunday night, after I shampoo'd my hair with baby shampoo, with dripping wet hair I slather on a generous amount of CJ repair me, put on a cap, and turned on the blow dryer to rotate the heat around my hair. I kept the treatment in for the maximum 10 minutes, then I rinse it out in the shower. OMG, it felt sooo soft, but then when it became dry... I don't know. It felt a bit softer, but I don't think anything has changed. My hair is still frizzy, undefined, and flyaway.

The next day, I wash my hair with the CJ daily fix conditioner, and rinsed. I put a little bit in as a leave-in, got out, dried my hair out with Curls Like Us towels, and put in my L.A. Sports gel.

While my hair looked alright (and pretty shiny), I just wasn't 100% happy. I thought my curls was supposed to "pop" after CJRM. Have I wasted my money for nothing?

What should I do?

It could be that your hair needs more moisture. The Repair Me is a moisturizing PT, but you may need to use at least a moisturizing rinse out (if not a DT) after using it.

You need to remember that the CJ Daily Fix contains Cocamidopropyl Betaine. Coco b is a mild sulfactant, so while some don't use a rinse out with it--many people do.

i agree with what km said. i can add that daily fix should not be used as a leave in.
curl junkie has many great conditioners that all can be used as leave ins. most curlies do leave some conditioner in, especially in low dew points. i also use lalsg and find it can be drying. so, i would definitely add some conditioner as a leave in.

About the daily fix, omg I'm so stupid lol! I'll keep this in mind and try something else to use as a rinse out/leave-in. Thank you.

I guess I didn't waste my money at all!

BONUS QUESTION: When can I do another round of CJRM? Because I just realized that I put it in, in dripping wet hair, and I just learned that you're supposed to squeeze all the water out first before putting it in, since water will dilute it.

Not sure the dripping wet hair would be an issue. I do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein. When I do a second PT, I usually use one that isn't as strong--Elucence Extended Moisture Repair Treatment, Mozeke Carrot Protein Mask, Shescentit Okra Hair Repair. I also use the Mozeke, Shescentit or CJ Curl Fix as a leave in (also use protein sprays.)

Unless your hair is really damaged, I wouldn't do the CJ Protein Repair more then once a week. I only use jelly products, no gels with chemicals (like polyquats that build up on me.) When I do a PT, I spray my hair with water and then use the treatment, cover with a plastic shower cap and go about my business. Sometimes, I'll sit under my hard bonnet dryer for 10 minutes.

also, i am assuming you used the baby shampoo as a one-time clarifying shampoo. some brands of baby shampoo are very harsh to your hair, they just won't burn your eyes. i know johnson & johnson baby wash/shampoo has 3 different sulfates in it!!!!

I wasn't taking care of my hair as properly as I should have, so it just became super dry and misbehaving.

I just did a DT with the GVP's version of Biolage Conditioning Balm. I put it on, put on my shower cap, and slept in it last night. I rinsed it out this morning, and although it's still frizzy and flyaway... it feels pretty darn soft right now. I'm thinking of using this frequently until I feel my hair has had enough of intense moisture.

So, I guess I can use CJRM this upcoming Sunday, then? Because I did the first CJRM the past Sunday night, so it would be 7 days later till I do the second one. Or is that already too much?

I use a lot of rich products, so haven't had to DT in years. Lots of folks like the Biolage. For me, the conditioning balm wasn't moisturizing enough to use as a rinse out, so I'm not sure that it's enough moisture for you to be using as a DT, especially if your hair is really dry.

Mid Atlantic states have had a fairly mild winter, so really low dewpoints haven't been an issue around here this year. If you're having a really hard winter and your hair is really dry, you need to be careful with the PTs. Great hair is all about getting the moisture/protein balance right. If your hair is really dry, you need to work on that. Repair Me is probably one of the best, moisturizing PTs you can use--but unless you get your hair moisturized properly, no PT is going to do wonders for you.

I just don't know any products that is very moisturizing at the moment. And I can't expect miracles the first time I use my new products because, I spent months being a jerk to my hair so now it's (rightfully) being a jerk right back.

EDIT: And just to make this thread more interesting, I'll be posting pictures of my hair and we'll see if I need to tweek anything into my routine. I'm a dummie with all of this, so forgive me! :P

UPDATE: I did my hair today with the following products-

1. Co-wash with CJDF.
2. Rinse, then did a rinse out with GVP Conditioning Balm.
3. Rinse (with cool water too), then use a bit of the same balm to use as a leave-in.
4. Used 2 (and a half, lol) pumps of TIGI Curls Rock Curl Amplifier cream. (The original turquoise bottle.)
5. Put in L.A. Sports Gel.
6. Attach the Ouidad diffuser attachment on my blow dryer, set it on to warm air/high air, and did my thing till it dried.
7. Found a random bottle of shine serum in my mom's bathroom, so I added a bit of it.

The results are at the bottom. It's still a bit frizzy and flyaway. My god, I guess I'm just not meant to be naturally beautiful. Maybe I should just give up... this is so sad.

Just wanted to chime in to say your hair is very beautiful! Also, the Tigi curl cream is FULL of cones. If you are trying to follow a CG routine, you will likely get build up from this product.

Even when I was using gentle shampoos with cleansers in them, I still felt like the Tigi products gave me build up!

What do you think my curl type might be? Or is it too damaged to be typed at the moment?

UPDATE: I've decided To buy ouidad products because I realized that the first time I tried it out under the guise of a hairstylist I've received 4 compliments that day, and that has never happened to me before or after I returned The products.

I guess CJ is not for me. I still have relatively full CJRM and CGDF and I don't know what to do with them...

i think curl junkie products are great for my hair. however, not all cj products are right for all hair, which is how marsha designed it.
and, there sometimes is a long learning curve with cj products. for me, if at first it doesn't work, i keep it on hand and try it in different weather, hair conditions..... ie, i had used aloe fix gel when it first came out, was more than likely using a leave in with it..... 2 years later marsha suggested i use it without a leave in, nothing under or over. and now aloe fix gel is my mid-high dew points HG!
if ouidad works consistently for your hair, then that seems to be you answer for your hair. everyone's hair is different and the key is to finding products that work for your hair, whatever the brand. the goal is to have great looking, healthy hair.

UPDATE: I cancelled my order of Ouidad because I just found my HG co-wash: VO5 Moisture Milk (strawberries and cream)... OMG. I love this stuff! So creamy and dreamy, makes my hair baby soft, and the proteins in it makes my hair "snap" up more than usual. I can now spring my curls with my finger and go "boiiing!" LOL

It makes my hair so nice and shiny too. It's still has some frizz/flyaway, but that could be fixed with my Sports Gel.

I am not going to buy Ouidad because some of her stuff has silicones.

Oh, and I've been going hardcore CG as of this past Sunday night, when I did one last wash with a harsh sulfate-filled clarifying shampoo to get rid of any past silicones and stuff out of my hair. Since then, I've been using CG-friendly products, like the VO5 conditioner and my sports gel. And GVP conditioning balm.

It's going to take a while for my hair to fully recover and start curling up/frizzing down. I'll try and be patient, though.

Thanks for all the help, guys!
