Although you wouldn't know if from my picture my hair is actually below BSL now. I use about 1 1/2 pumps of the container. I squeeze out the extra water in my hair and rake or comb through product. Sometimes I diffuse, usually I just air dry.

As for hold, well, it has a little crunch but not a lot. It's not a "hard" hold but it's more hold than say a "medium" gel.

Okay I use one styling cream in my hair to style it with but I use different ones depending on my hair's needs now. I would have to say that Curls Milkshake formula now tops my list when it comes to an all-in-one product for my hair when I need light to medium moisturization . But when my hair needs medium or heavy moisture I now go for either Curls Souffle or Whipped Cream. And when my curls need extra frizz protection or hold based on the weather an adequate moisturization I now go for Curls Spiral Curl Cream.

The only products that I must use a spray leave-in(Curls Quenched) first with are Curls Souffle and Whipped Cream.

No, I'm a layerer/mixer but like to use the minimum possible amounts for a soft, cottony, but still defined textured/curly look. If someone came and took all my products away, I would need to hold on to Robert Craig Conditioner, CurlyQ Milkshake and Jessicurl Confident Coils. Okay, I could get by with just Robert Craig and Confident Coils (or a gel), if someone held me up in the shower.

I use Jessicurl Rockin Ringlets. Smooth into soaking hair upside down & scrunch w/ micro. Add a little more by scrunching upside down & w/ micro again. That's it!

Angell works fine. If I need more moisture in the cold air, I won't rinse off all my conditioner.

B&A gel -- or any decent gel is OK on it's own in non-challenging weather conditions, ie humidity. But as soon as humidity rises above 60%, very few products can stand alone for me. If I want one product that is humidity resistant enough on its own, the only one I can think of is Curls Rock, like a cream/gel/cones combo. Pretty heavy duty. A 3A I know swears by it, & I have to say her hair looks remarkably consistent, in all kinds of weather.

I just use Herbal Essences Body Envy. You are talking about just styling products, right? :-P

I can't be bothered with mulitple products either!
The only products I can use alone and still get great results are:
B&A Gel and Joico Joiwhip.

Yes! So I tried Tigi Catwalk Curls Rock Amplifier over leave-in today... Success! My curls turned out really nice. I was even complimented by another curlie. My curls also looked natural and felt soft/med hold vs. the typical hard stiff crunchy strong hold from gel. (I normally use gel with something else).

I have a few other things that I am going to try solo.

Thanks for all the replies!

LadyCurlyLocks, yes, I was refering to stylers.

Inspired by this thread, I decided to just try one styler besides my leave-in (and CK when needed). I've been using Graham Webb Making Waves gel for the last 3 days and it's been working great.

The other things I've used alone just over a leave-in are:

*GF Soft Curl Cream
*GF XXL Weightless Volume Gel
*L'Oreal Out of Bed
*HE Set Me Up
*ABBA Weightless
*Biosilk RHG

That's all I can think of for now. Boy this really makes me want to concentrate on using just one styler from now on. That'll be a challenge .

I like to keep things simple. My regular gel is LA Looks Sport and it's been my HG for going on 3 years. If it's an extremely dry day I might mix it with a little oil or Ojon or honey. But I'd say 90% of the time I use it alone.

I am slowly comming to the conclusion that I can wear just one styler. I've been having great hair days from L'Oreal Out of Bed cream. Great hold (not hard/stiff), good clumping.

So now I'm sitting here wondering... Why haven't I tried only one styler in the past? It seems that I have been brainwashed into thinking that I must combine/layer/mix stylers to get great hair. Well I am going to continue experimenting over the next couple weeks with just using one styler. I have tons and tons and tons of stuff in my collection! So it may take awhile.
Lavendercurls, good luck on your challenge! I'm going to do the same thing!

I think it's just because we rarely see anyone on here who does only use one styler ! Seems like combos generally work better for some reason and when we see a great combo, it's just so dang hard to resist trying!

I went through my cabinets yesterday and just put a bunch of stuff on the swap board. I have the stuff I'm keeping all arranged in rows and will weed through to narrow things down. Unfortunately, yesterday and today I used Aloeba, Re:coil, RR and CCSS and have had awesome hair days both days. So much for one product, but I'm going to keep working on it !!

ETA: I posted that last night and this morning decided to try my new Body Envy just on top of my CurlnShine condish leave-in. Love it !
