.....but only for a while. It's like changing your spots, it ain't gonna happen for long. I just don't know with this hair. I know I can have some frizz-free days with straight hair, but with the curls, it is just inevitible. I can't seem to get it right, no matter what I do. I change up techniques, products, whatever - but it can't ever look good. I have been SO GOOD about putting down the hairdryer and only diffusing when absolutely necessary. But this doesn't help. I have used really good and expensive products with lots of oils and all kinds of stuff. I've laid off the shampoo.....I just can't get it right. I am about to have some events come up that I NEED my hair to look GREAT and I can't risk going natural because It's like Forrest and his damn box of chocolates. And you know where that gets us. ...
I think all this bad frizz is from a really bad bleach job I got last May. yes, MAY. I trusted my former boss when she recommended her hairdresser to me. I must say, she gave me the BEST haircut for me at the time. It was meant to be short and straight, but I was thinner then, and It looked awesome on me. Fast forward to NOW when I am realizing that my hair is curly and there's no getting away from it. I can't go for the big chop, even though that would be the best thing for my hair. The roots are doing good, but the old growth.....BARF. I am in the process of trying to lose the weight so I can be the same size I was when my hair was cuter - how sad is that? Whatever - I am just gonna stick it out with what I've got and when I get tired of straightenin, I know you girls will be her to cheer on my curls....
I'm a maniac LOST fan, too. No one is allowed to talk to me when that show is on, or they might lose a limb, maybe two.
Back to hair . . .
TM, curly hair can be frustrating. It never seems to look like the curls you see on TV & magazines. Come to reality, though. That ain't real life. In real life we all have frizz, at least to some degree.
I think we are normally hard on ourselves about our looks. We are probably our own worst critic. Ask someone you can trust what they think. Do they think your hair is really as frizzy as you think it is?
If your hair is as frizzy as you think it is, it may be due to the overprocessing. If this is why, then no amount of products may fix it. You may just have to wait until it grows out. It depends on how bad the damage is. Believe me, I've been there and cried over my hair and some bad irrepairable damage.
Another thing to remember, too. If you hair is short, you may not have completely discovered your curl pattern. It might need to get longer before the curls can make a rotation or two. I know I went through an awkward stage where my curls just sorta stuck out like little horns all over my head.
If you want to straighten, don't beat yourself up about it. If you really prefer the way it looks straight, go for it. While I doubt I'll ever straighten mine again (I can't figure out how to get a brush through it to straighten it, anyway), I'm not anti-straight by no means. I loved my hair when I had it thermally straightened.
my Fotki hair journey/experiment diary PW is brio (and I really need to update it!)
3A hair; coloring with henna/indigo since July 2009; normally follow the CG method. Still searching for my HG products!
Oh NO! Not thermal straightening. More product and chemicals on top of this damaged mess....THAT's all I need.
What I ended up doing yesterday is a DT with Neutrogena weekly conditioner. And yes, it has a cone. I blew it out before work and it looked awesome. Lots of compliments, and it looked soft and smooth for the entire day. I have one guy friend who wanted to know what happened to my 'afro'. We have this funny thing going where I get to be a token black girl because my hair is curly. My black friends "kick me out of the group" when my hair is straight. So, overall, it was a good and funny day, and I felt good all day. No worrying about what I looked like, because I knew I looked good.
I'm gonna keep it up for a while, and only blow out my hair straight. No chemicals. I don't think my hair can take it!
I s'pose if you're gonna guano a thread, talking about LOST is the way to do it!
BTW, a friend of mine colored just my roots last night, and my hair looks FAB-OH! I am still blowing it out for now, cuz frankly, I think I just needed some cones in my life. It's like that bad boy we are all attracted to. We know he's bad for us, but man, he feels good.....
This is the last season? WTF? Get me all hooked and then it's not on long grrrrrrrrrr
It needs to hurry up and be back I swear this is taking forever! Don't they know some of us live for our Tivo shows?
ETA: I see mention of a season finale but not a show finale. Hopefully they'll give us a few more seasons (fingers crossed)
Another Lost fan here . Can't wait for it to come back. I SO need Tivo or a DVD recorder. I'm busy on Wednesday nights and tried taping it but the tapes were and they were new! I end up watching them on abc.com .
CG-modified since 4/05 2b/3a and 3b on occasion! Products: The hair aisle in my own cabinets.
Best definition winner: KCCC
Best volume winner: LOOB
Girl, you gotta get TIVO or DVR from Dish Network or SOMETHING!!! I have had it since 2000 when I got married. Frankly, I can't live without it. I have gotten hooked on other TV shows via ordering from Netflix. There's nothing like instant gratification when watching a series on DVD so you don't have all the cliffhanger action you would if watching weekly.
If we're gonna GUANO, let's do it GOOD. Here's a list of the shows I watch regularly....Let's hear yours.
RESCUE ME - hands down, the best show on TV that not enough people watch
Nip/Tuck - Melrose Place filler
The Sheild - Can't wait for this one to start up again
24 - Jack is gonna save the world
- Y'all can have all the Sawyer you want - I'm taking Michael Scoffield
LOST of course
