There's actually a couple of long threads about this method at the longhaircommunity. And some more info in ktanis blog here. It's called "hair care of movie stars". Lots of people have had success with it. I would like to see others experiences. TIA .

Curlsnswirls, thanks for posting the link to the thread on LHC. I have been reading through it - v long thread!! - and felt confident enough to try the method. I used 3 parts EVCO, 1 part sulphate free shampoo, 3 parts water.
It didn't lather which surprised me. It felt v soft and moisturised. Just out of habit, once out of the shower, I scrunched through a pea sized amount of CCCC. My hair is still drying and so far looks good. I will report back with results. I have v dry, frizz prone hair. If this can cure some of the frizz I will consider the experiment a success.

Here is my update. I loved my hair today and had 3 compliments. Curls were good and had lots of volume which I like. Frizz was minimal. This is definitely revolutionary!!
Curlsnswirls, I was glad to see that you are co-washing between washes. I think I will try this also. What is your ratio of CO to shampoo?

I usually go about 1:1 ratio, and it works really well.

I am so glad my method is working for you all.

I usually mix it up in a two oz bottle, so I will probably fill the bottle 1/3 with coconut oil and the rest with the shampoo. I'm also going to try using babassu oil to see which I like better. It was another oil recommended for this method.

I've read that you will get better results by using a shampoo with very simple ingredients, otherwise you may have problems with build up. Last time I used a shampoo bar with awesome results. I slathered my hair with coconut oil and then washed with the shampoo bar. That may not work for everyone. I've also tried out non CG shampoos with sulfates, Garnier fructis pure clean and Aussie moist shampoo, which can be drying if used too often. I mix it in a 2 oz bottle which lasts a few washes for me.

I washed with the oil shampoo on Saturday and have co-washed twice since then. I think it's time to use the oil shampoo mix again.

I agree about the simple ingredients. I started this to get less stripping when clarifying with build-up shampoos, so I don't know how well it would work with daily shampoos that are already moisturizing.
You never know, though

Thanks Unicyclist for starting this thread and to both you and curlsnswirls for your suggestions, sharing your methods and advice.

A further update re my hair - today is day 2. My hair was looking a little greasy at the roots and so I gave into temptation and brushed my hair with my Denman (!!!) Haven't brushed my dry hair for ages. I then sprayed hair with water only and scrunched/ twisted & clipped canopy.

My hair looked great. This is a first for me. I was able to revive the curls & frizz was minimal. I will be going for day 3. Loving this method!!

I tried this the other day. I added a drop of my BC Curl Nourishing Oil to each quarter sized amount of the Jessicurl Cleansing Cream and it worked like a charm! Also because the Jessicurl is unscented I got the added bonus of making it smell wonderfully like vanilla. My scalp and hair felt clean, but very soft! I used to use oil as a pre poo, but it works better this way.

The Jessicurl was already pretty gentle, but this makes me even more comfortable cleansing 2x a week. Thank you for sharing!
Is anyone still using this method? I remember I used to shampoo with Come Clean, and it totally stripped my hair. Now that I'm back on Kinky-Curly, I was thinking of trying Come Clean again but am afraid of the stripping. Does adding oil to your shampoo help against drying and still get hair clean?

Thanks!!

I tried a bit of a twist on the shampoo with oil this morning. Mixed equal amounts of conditioner with olive oil and added a few drops of macadamia nut oil and applied it like a DC with shower cap but no heat from the hairdryer. Let it stay on for almost an hour, then low pooed and got the softest hair I've ever had. It felt kind of greasy even after shampooing, but it didn't look greasy at all after styling. Great combo for me!

Mixed 1 part EVOO and 3 parts Kinky Curly Come Clean. Did not notice a difference. Im giving myself permission to use 50/50 next time. This may be a way to avoid the long waste of time prepooing can be and avoid having to remove too much oil using actual oil rinses....we'll see. Im excited!!!

Does the oil come out when you mix it with shampoo and then rinse it out? I'm curious because I can't style my hair with oil, it just weighs it down so I can only add oil if I'm going to shampoo my hair and can get it all out. If I come out of the shower with oil still in my hair it won't look good when I go to style. I use the loreal evercreme Intense nourishing shampoo once every two weeks or so...longer if I can help it but this method sounds interesting and I'd like to try it.
I've yet to try mixing oil with my shampoo, but now I think I'll have to! I do oil treatments overnight at least once a week and love the results.

Oh poo. Literally. I should've paid more attention to this thread. I did my first clarifying low-poo tonight as an experiment and now my hair feels rather dry. Next time. Hopefully it will be be softer and more moisturized in the morning.
