Oil + shampoo = soft hair!
Usually I shampoo, condition, style, frizz serum, t-shirt turban for 15 min, then air dry. Lately, though, my hair has been super frizzy and barely curling.
So I did something different last night...
I shampooed but added some coconut oil so it wouldn't strip my hair and because I needed more moisture. Come Clean lathers, so the coconut oil was able to spread well. Next, I conditioned with KCKT and detangled. After that, I scrunch n pumped some KCCC in and a little Sprial Sprtiz to help with frizz. I scrunched with a t-shirt then just put my hair over my pillown and went to sleep.
Awesome hair day today! Didn't know if it was the oil + shampoo or something else, but I would definitely recommend adding oil to your shampoo.

I love oiling my hair and then washing with a stronger shampoo! It seems counter-intuitive (I always wondered why it wouldn't work the same if you just used a very mild low poo and didn't add any oil), but there's something about the combo that makes my hair super soft and happy, but clean, light, and refreshed.
BTW, I don't think I could ever get decent hair just "plopping" it on top of my pillow, like you described! I will forever be envious of those who can go to bed with wet hair and wake up with great curls.

Yep! I just mixed it right in with my shampoo and got super soft hair instead of dry, brittle hair.

i did this today, and oooh my good!! best DT ever! i mixed two condioners together, mac nut oil, evening primrose oil and a few drops of rosemary. i wet my hair, put a bit in, n use it to detangle, which was super easy, then put it all in and left it in for 45 mins. i used a low poo to wash it all out then i put a bit of the left overs in as a leave in.

Oh, I totally get it now!! Sorry, "duuhhh" moment. I realize now that you meant mixing oil straight into your shampoo and washing with that. I actually kind of stole this idea yesterday when I was washing my hair and loved it! My scalp starts to get dry and not feel good sometimes (my sensitive scalp gets broken out when I wash with something too harsh too often), so I added some apricot kernel oil to my low poo (Organix Tea Tree Mint) and washed with that. I probably used about/more than 10 drops of the stuff by the time I was done low pooing. And it was GREAT! Thanks for the idea!! I loved it. My scalp was happy, and I don't feel at all greasy or anything like that. Awesome idea!

I've found coconut oil in the organic section at my regular grocer or with the regular cooking oils at walmart...
ETA I've also found it at GNC.

Oh I love oil & shampoo! I've been doing a honey & olive oil mask before I shampoo & my hair has never been softer. It's the best thing I've done yet for my hair. I'm so happy it works for you too!

I do this too. I usually oil my hair with coconut oil about 20 min before washing and let it sit. Then I wash with shampoo on my scalp only, and then condition the ends, and finally I rinse everything out. The result is super soft hair.

Today, I got some shea butter because I needed something for my skin. I figured what the hell and mixed about 1/2 cup of Shea butter with 1/3 cup of coconut oil and some vanilla extract for fragrance. Gonna try it tonight with my hair too, to mix with the shampoo

I love this. I'm going to do it all the time!
I'm getting my haircut tomorrow, but today, after putting oil in my shampoo (I always mix my shampoo in water so I poured some oil in - the oil in my siggie) I tried it and I loved the results. Much improvement! This is revolutionary.

I'll have to try this. I've been rubbing coconut oil into hair on nights before I plan on washing it to help avoid stripping it. Putting it right into the shampoo sounds like it might work better.
