DC Curlies: Calling all Yodit fans!
Hey all, I posted the below on the 3c page. Just thought you might want to know.

In March, Yodit is leaving Salon Cielo and moving full-time to Salon Revive in little Ethiopia, around 9th & U st, nw. She'll be part owner there and is ecstatic. Yay! I'm so happy for her. :)

Check out her new digs:

Another curly gave Yodit an excellent review and her haircut looked fantastic! I'm in Philly and I'm soo tempted to drive down there to get my hair cut.

I say go for it! It's completely worth it. I first started seeing her two years ago and haven't turned back. She has given me the best cuts of my life and the price is very reasonable.

She does a mean blowout, too.

ooh, I want to check her out! When I go back home for break, I'll have to set up an appointment. I've only been to a salon once in my life and that was to get hair pressed. The next day, due to the humidity, my hair was puffy again :? . Does she do curly styles?

I have a consultation with Yodit on Saturday. I really hope she can reccomend some hair products and hairstyles for me. My mother demanded that I get something done to my hair because I just put it in a bun or a puff. My hair has just been looking really shabby lately.

Ok, so I had my consulation with Yodit on Saturday. She told me that if she does do my hair, she will give it shape by trimming it and then she will give me a nice curly style. After the consultation, she said that she could squeeze me in for a Sunday appointment. I came in on Sunday and she had the shampoo girl shampoo and condition my hair. That wasn't too bad but the girl brush/detangled my hair while it had a little condtioner in it and it hurt sooo much. Yodit then recommended and deep treatment. So she put the deep treatment in my hair and set me under the steam dryer. She rinsed it out and then combed my hair out with a detangling brush while drying my hair with a blowdryer and it hurt like HELL!!! She was so ruff. Then, she told me that my hair needed to be cut because I had dry ends. I only wanted a trim but I didn't mind the cut--eventhough i almost cried when I saw the hair fall to the floor. She took about 3 inches off. Next was the style, she had to rewet it to do the curly style. After this was done, she put in Paul Mitchell's Pomade. She saturated my hair with this stuff then she sat me under the dryer for 10-15 mins. She fluffed my hair and that was all. My hair looked like sh*t when she was done. My mother was pissed because she paid $75 for this when she could have done a better job. My head looked like a rushed twist out. I didn't even wear my hair out today. It is in a ponytail, exactly what I didn't want to do....Overall, she did a good job cutting it, but she CANNOT style hair at all. I WILL NOT be getting my hair done by her again.

Sorry that you weren't happy with the style. Doesn't sound like it was worth the $75 bucks as well, even if the cut was good. From my understanding, Yodit isn't the best at styling natural hair, but is great at cutting/shaping natural hair. She also will cut the hair if she feels that the hair's condition warrants it. She doesn't believe in clients holding onto the length when the hair isn't as healthy as it could be. I think Layali posted something to this affect in the 3C forum. I haven't gone to her personally, but I've pretty much heard this from ladies who have gone to her and was happy with the results.

Maybe in a few months, you could go see Miko(from Miss Jessie's) at the salon she's working at up in NW.

My sister has been going to Yodit for a few years now and says pretty much what you say here. .. that Yodit is good at cutting/shaping and will definitely cut all damaged hair: but her styling is not all that.

Eccentric - what salon is Miko working out of please? Is this temporary or has she permanently moved from NYC to DC?

Thank you.
