Default For those who can't rake when styling

When my hair was longer I could get away with raking and scrunching, but now if I rake and scrunch my hair drys stringy and it really looks awful.

Are there any of you who absolutely can not rake or scrunch?

Me! I will rake in my RO conditioner but cannot rake in any styling products. My waves are far too weak to do that and still have some semblance of waves. I have to scrunch in all my products.

Thanks asianrunner....

I am growing my hair out, and on top of it being really wonky (I haven't perfected a styling routine ever since I had to chop my hair off after a bad Devacut)

The under of my hair was cut too short, but the top was left longer... Patiently waiting for it to grow out. Haven't cut it in six months....

Right now raking and scrunching is not working.

If raking and scrunching don't work you could always try smoothing the product down the length of your hair. Make sure to work in sections to distribute the product evenly. Hope this helps!

I've tried raking in products and it just makes my hair look like a stringy, greasy mess that looks like a bird's nest. It kills my wave pattern. It gets even worse if I rake and scrunch, cuz it just adds frizz. I do rake my conditioner, but no raking after that.

I've found that smoothing the product on by sections is the way for me. In addition, I "scrunch" by ploppping my hair and pixie-diffusing. For me (don't know if it happens to anybody else), the more I touch my hair during the drying process, the more frizz I get.

I can't simply because it wrecks the curl pattern. I mean, it doesn't look bad per se, but it results in the very ends of my hair going straight, which gives me beachy waves sort of like Kesha's, when I prefer actual curls.

I've tried raking but my hair hates it. My curls break up and get stringy. I'd have to rake, comb through, then spray again with tons of water. But, scrunching is my best friend, if I do it carefully, but getting even product distribution is hard with my long hair.
