Default Products that fly under the radar?

We hear all the time about KCKT, KCCC, LALSG, BRHG, etc. What products have you found that you believe are under-represented in the nc community?

Like everything else, products seem to "come and go." If you can believe it, KCCC is no where near as popular as when I first joined. I think it's because it's more "available," so it doesn't seem as elusive or special.

Some products are "hot" when they are first "discovered" and reviewed by a member. Some lines get a lot of "hype" when they come out with a new product. It's all about staying power. There don't seem to be a lot of products that are popular several years later.

As an admitted product strumpet, I rotate products. I wet, use a rinse out and style everyday. I seldom use a product twice in a week (try to keep it to every five days.) I probably have 40 or 50 products in my rotation, so there is always room for one more, LOL! I always looking for something to peak my interest. My hair prefers the more natural products from the online boutique type companies.

I'm happy to buy something new. At this point, I'm a little jaded. Products have to be really great for me to love them and keep using them.

I don't know whats flying but I will say that I don't see the kynx line getting much hype.

I love MOP c-system products. They are ultra moisturizing and pretty old from what I've read but I love them.

Agree about Mop C. I used the hydrating shampoo for the longest time but now rotate in Jessicurl cleansers. I tried the Mop C defining cream but didn't like it very much.

Also love Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic. Not many use it but I love it as a curl enhancer in low dews!

MOP C was popular when I was first on the boards. There's a thread about the Curl Defining (was enhancing) Creme being discontinued.

I just checked out the KYNX line. I suspect they aren't popular because of the ingredients--lots of cones.

I have liked Herbal Essence Tousle me Softly mousse. I know a lot of curlies like the Set me Up and Totally Twisted lines; I have used the HETT, and dont like it. I just dont. I gave mine away. I like the Tousle mousse.

DermOrganics Hydrating Shampoo (low-poo) and Masque. This combo is amazing! The shampoo cleans fabulously well, but leaves my hair feeling super soft, especially when I follow with the Masque as my RO. I know they're not always easy to find on the ground (they are available online), but definitely worth trying.

I like the UFD Curly Magic, too. The texture is a little like homemade FSG or a jelly.

I like the Hugo Naturals line. It is found at Whole Foods and online. My most frequently used product is the shampoo.
ninja dog likes this.

@Corrina, where have you found DermOrganics Hydrating Shampoo (low-poo) and Masque on the ground and about how expensive is it?

I have a semi-local chain of discount hair & make-up products near me (it's also where I always got my Deva products when I used them). I saw once on a thread here that someone found them at TJ Maxx or Marshalls, but I don't know if that's still the case. Price wise- they fall in between Shea Moisture and Deva.

Default Pravana Curves Curl Enhancer

I had an incredible appt. with a curly hair specialist who gave me a fantastic cut and went over all kinds of tips with me. I learned so much!

She also used this curl enhancer on me--Pravana Curves Curl Enhancer--and I bought it and love it so far. I was surprised that I had not heard of it on NC.com. It is a watery gel that really offers hold (at first I thought that it was like CJ CIAB, but it has more hold than that). I don't need to use my BRHG over it, and that is amazing. It does dry a bit stiffly, but it is very easy to SOTC and then it looks fantastic. This works so well on my hair thus far.

i've been trying to find the mop c curl defining cream...do you know if it got discontinued? I've been wanting to try a cream b/c I am new here and really not liking gel too much. I want to stay away from protein, glycerin and aloe in addition to the regular CG no-no's.. Any recommendations to a mop c alternative if it was discontinued?

I am always keen to try something new. The ingredients don't look too bad - polyquat is at the top but I'm okay with that. No cones or mineral oil. Can you tell me what the fragrance is like. If it is really strong smelling or floral, I have to stay clear. TIA

Default pravana

The Pravana has a scent but I am having trouble placing it. To me, it is not strong at all and definitely fades away fast..but I know everyone is different when it comes to scents.

Default Pravana

It MIGHT be what you would consider floral. Like I said, it's hard to place.
It works well as a 2nd day refresher (which I rarely have luck with).

Hmmm I'd say it reminds me of SS CEJ. Not watery or liquidy at all. Not sticky but can be a bit goopy if you get too much.
