Hair feels really weird?

So the other night (Friday) I had an event and used twice as much gel as normal. I also had just co-washed and conditioned as normal, and used a leave-in. So anyways, I rinsed my hair this morning, seeing as I used cone-free gel I thought all the gel would come out. My hair felt like straw sort of, like the gel hadn't washed out. So I did a protein treatment, thinking that might be why, I hadn't done one since I started CG 3 weeks ago. Anyways, my hair felt better after the PT followed by a DT of GVPCB and honey. It still feels gross though. After I rinsed the DT out, I just applied some of my normal Tresemme Naturals conditioner and left it. It feels softer but that might just be the conditioner. Should I be worried?

Some people find that their hair reacts badly to other ingredients besides just cones or sulfates. Mineral oil is the first thing that comes to mind, but it's certainly not the only one. If your hair continues to feel weird in a couple days, you might want to consider a low-poo. But it might just take your hair a few days to feel normal. I just went through something very similar about a week ago, so I completely relate.

I low-poo'd with Organix Argan Oil before I did the PT. I'm gonna avoid the gel for a few days and see if that's why. Last week I noticed that the blue gell made my hair feel that way when wet, but it went away when it dried. Now the clear gel I use did the same thing so I think it must be something they have in common.

And I love how easy gel is at keeping frizz away! Ugh haha

I think it's a good idea to lay off that particular gel for a few days, especially since you say your hair's felt weird twice now (even though the first time was only for a while). Maybe make note of the ingredients, too. In time, you may determine that there's some particular ingredient that your hair just doesn't like.
