Question about humectants

I want to buy CJ Pattern Pusha but I noticed it has some humectants. It doesn't have Glycerin but it has panthenol and propylene glycol. If I understand humectants and dew points right you shouldn't use products with humectants in dew points above 60? I live in Jersey and we are having really weird weather. Today the dew point was 57. Are some humectants better than others? This is not exactly a hard hold gel and I thought hard hold gels are better for summer. But it's suppose to be spring here with normal dew points. I don't know if I should get this. Can someone tell me if they have noticed any effects from the humectants when using this?

Poo: KC Come Clean (once/wk)
Clarify: Ouidad Water Works (once/month)
RO: Suave Wild Cherry Blossom

Gels: HETT and FSG
DT: CJCR (once/wk)
PT: Yogurt with coconut oil and avocado oil (once/month)
I am sensitive to glycerin but find other humectants less troublesome for my hair. But of course everyone is different!

I did try the CJPP and was not impressed. It's ok but not great, but it didn't dry me out. Medium just ok hold, lost a lot of volume from te hydro cellulose
My hair: 3b, corkicelli, medium porosity, medium texture, medium/thick density

Co-wash: DevaCurl NoPoo
Rinse-out: GVP Conditioning Balm
Leave-in: KCKT, Suave Naturals Coconut, or my rinse-out!
Gel: SS FHG (my new HG!!)... I also like HESMU, AIF, CJ CQ, BRHG, CJ PP and the occasional LALSG

Likes: Plopping!
Dislikes: Glycerin

CG and loving it!
Jaclyn15, thank you. My hair hates glycerin (aloe as well) and it's hard to find products that don't have humectants in the ingredients. I was thinking of using CJPP as a replacement for FSG. I usually apply FSG over HETT since FSG doesn't have much hold either. I'm glad to hear that these humectants didn't appear to bother you. Good to know.

You may also want to try Aussie instant freeze. It is humectant free as far as I know! It's quite globby though so a little goes a long way

AIF:
water, laureth 23, ppolyquaternium 4, hydroxyethylcellulose, benzyl alcohol, acrylates/beheneth 25 methacrylate copolymer, aminomethyl propanol, dmdm hydantoin, acrylates copolymer, fragrance, disodium edta, prunus serotina bark extract (wild cherry), humulus lupulus extract (hops), hedychium coronarium root extract (australian white ginger), panthenol

Those are the humectants in the product, but there ones that don't get a lot of hype so I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm still on the fence about panthenol since it's in freaking everything!

Crap I thought I was safe with that one haha. I haven't found it to be drying at all though. Is there such a thing as a completely humectant free gel/styler?

I live in the Hudson Valley, NY area so I completely understand trying to navigate the weird weather this year. My understanding was that humectants are good in higher dews to a point. Like right now I'm finding that my hair is liking glycerin. I suspect that won't be the case in the dead of August, but I guess I'll have to deal with that when the dews get really high.

As far as CJPP, I like the clumps I get from it, but I add a little bit of BRHG to increase the hold.

Something definitely went wrong for me with CJ PP once it got rainy/dewy out. It was my first time trying it, and after reading up on it, I decided to use it without a LI. Never have I gotten such beautiful results from a gel alone-- my curls were shiny and bouncy, I thought this was going to be in the running as my new HG spring/summer styler. But, as the weather went from cool, "optimal" dews to hot, rainy and high dews, my hair frizzed out into a puffball even though I was inside most of the time, and not pretty, fluffly big hair, but fuzzy, dry looking frizz

I don't know if this was from the humectants, from having a light-medium hold, or from it not being moisturizing enough for those conditions, but the whole reason I tried it was because I thought it would be good for muggy weather.

AIF doesn't work for me any of the times I've tried it in varying weather conditions. I got no crunch to scrunch out at all.

I've been avoiding glycerin at least to see if that helps, but I'm confused because when I lived in FL with very high dews, Deva Curl products never worked better for me, and they're packed with glycerin!
