Question to those who water wash
I am curious the concept of water washing; I understand you don't use low poo or a rinse out, but do you use a leave in? How often to you do it in relation to how often you cowash or low poo? Does it work well for you? TIA

I know some wavies who water wash on the 2's board. Basically, you can modify it however you want, based on the needs of your hair. You can just water wash and not use any RO (more for the less tangly hair types ), you can use a little RO along with it, you can skip RO and just use a LI/detangler, etc. It's just like washing your hair with whatever you'd normally wash it with -- experiment a little, and see what works best! From the reading I've done, I'd say the most popular method is to just rinse, use a RO, and style like normal, as if you had just washed it. I know Kathymack does this all the time!
I tried water washing a couple of times a while back. I have to say that I absolutely hated it. I just feel like when I'm "washing" my hair, it needs to be cleaned with something -- besides water. My hair felt gunky and heavy and producty. It was not a good look -- or a good experience. But, some love it. Not me!

I water wash all the time! I alternate low pooing with water washing, every other day. I stand under the water and just sort of do a quick massage and then do my routine like normal; rinse out, leave-in if necessary and styling products.

I think that's my "issue", wavynwild, that I have a hard time considering water washing because I feel like my hair/scalp would be "dirty" (even though I have no issue going 3-5 days not washing my hair as long as I wear it up lol). But I think with how busy I've gotten with school and work and with the temperatures rising, I may try cleansing the night before I want to wear my hair down, (low pooing or cowashing, and a rinseout), and the next morning water washing my hair and just adding a leave in and styling (so I don't have to wake up as early). Hopefully this will work out really well I'll kind of try it tonight with doing a PT/DT tonight since it's been forever since I've done a protein treatment and I KNOW my hair has missed having that strong shot of protein, and then just rinsing my hair + leave in + styling it tomorrow. Wish me luck.

I wouldn't worry too much about your hair/scalp feeling dirty. I workout 5-6 days a week either running or going to crossfit, both which guarantee I'll get sweaty!
But I also haven't been using styling products lately, just cleansing and conditioning and then letting it air dry. My school isn't air conditioned and working with special needs kids usually means my hair gets messed up anyway!

I water wash most of the time, and my hair feels and acts totally clean, like when I cowash. I only cowash every couple weeks, cos honestly, it just isn't necessary! I always give my scalp a good scrubbing when I water wash, then apply GFTN, which I do not rinse out. Then style with La Looks Sport Gel.

I only cowash once every four days (my scalp takes that long to feel oily/dirty lol) so I water wash the other days! I get my hair wet and then put on my RO, do my shower stuff, rinse out the RO in cold water, and then style as usual!

What's funny is water washing "dries" my hair like washing with something. It's the weirdest thing. LoL! My hair is so dang weird.
Anyway, it works on all hair types except those with really oily hair or use heavy products.

I call this rinsing but it might as well be water washing. I wash my hair once a week with a poo, mid week I water-wash

I do water washes sometimes, when my hair just has enough product already!

I had always thought that "water washing" is the same as the olden term "just wetting the hair". Maybe WW involves some scalp massage too, which I also did when just wetting my hair.
I WW every other day. I use a leave-in any time I get my hair wet because it helps tremendously with my detangling and my hair tends to be on the dry side without it.
