Default Anyone have advice for a limp noodle...head? :D Updated with pics

Backstory: I cut my BSL hair to shoulder length and can't get enough of it for the most part. Every week I do IAGirl's protein treatment and it seems to be great. I cowash with Suave Naturals conditioners (varying flavors--right now it's some new one with vanilla and it's yellow...) and use Tresseme Naturals conditioner as a leave-in, sometimes swapping that out with herbal Nature's Gate. I use Beyond the Zone Noodle Head Mousse and some LA Looks Sports Gel.

I've attached some pictures, because I seem to be having difficulty keeping my hair springy and full of life lately.

Here's an example of how it looks when it's first dried with the diffuser. (Ignore the stupid face, it's a new phone camera and I have no idea where to look haha)

After a bit, here's what it starts to look like.

If it makes sense, the layers closest to my face go kind of limp. About halfway down my hair. Also, the top part goes kind of nuts and tends to feel, after a few hours, kind of...stiff? Like if I run my fingers through it gently, it feels like I haven't washed it in awhile, and then the curls get messed up and kind of just go limp too.

I can't figure out if it's one of the conditioners or gels I'm using. I'm in college so I have to be sparing with the experimenting. D:

Aside from the protein, what more could I be doing? Could I be OC'ing my hair? Any ideas are definitely appreciated...I wish my hair would be springy and cute already!

try just attaching the pictures as files, then hopefully we can see them.

I've been kind of having the same issues lately, aside from the protein issue. Just kinda, blah hair towards mid day.

All right, one more time. I'm trying the file thing. Really sorry, everyone. :/ It's weird, it shows up on my screen just fine. Strange technology.

Day 1: Cowash and condition with AO GPB, ACV Rinse,
Co-Kra gel (this stuff is fantastic)

Day 2: KCKT, KCCC, plop, KCCC, plop again, air dry
Day 3: Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Coil Jam
Day 4: IAGirl's PT, KBB DT, FSG

Co-Kra gel is my own concoction of okra boiled in coconut milk. It is a cross between FSG and KCCC and leaves my hair very soft and shiny

Drop dead gorgeous! Can you come over and fix mine like that? LOL, not in this lifetime.
I think you need either some stronger hold gel or, even better, HAIRSPRAY!!! Some gals like the Ion brand (Sally's) alcohol-free, or the Tresemme one. But with volume like that, you need some help keeping it in place.

Also wonder if you're getting too much gel up near your roots to make it feel how you described. I do that a lot. Grrr.
There was a thread in the 2s board about hairspray: Hairspray - who can't live w/out it?

Stronger than LA Looks Sport:
LA Looks Power Spikes
BioSilk Rock Hard Gelee
Aussie Instant Freeze? (haven't tried yet, but heard lots of good things)
I also happened to spot a different LA Looks gel at Walmart last night- not sure what the actual hold is- on the label it's rated as a 10+, it was a 40oz TUB of gel and it promised hold plus volume- I was intrigued, but not sure I wanted to try to make room to store another large tub of gel when I already have two different barely touched EcoStylers taking up precious space in my bathroom.

BEAUTIFUL! That is some of the best curly hair I have seen not exaggerating

Maybe you need to clarify once a week with a sulphate free shampoo. My hair did the same thing, but the curls came back to life whn I started clarifying.

Gorgeous, though!

oh, my goodness. Girl, how did you get your hair to look like that first picture?! It's so good! I'm envious of your root volume, as I'm a chronic flat-top xD

You guys are making me blush haha! That was taken on a day when I definitely wasn't feeling so good, so it means a lot. I wish I could get my hair to stay like that first picture--unfortunately, that's my problem. :P

Question: since I live in the desert (Northern and Mid-AZ for the most part) could the glycerin in my gel be a problem? I've heard for some people it can be...

It could be- SaraNoH is from AZ- she would be a great person to give advice about maintaining healthy curls in the desert- you might want to check her signature for some product ideas. I do know she avoids glycerin.
