Default Plopping and flat roots

Anyone else have this? My roots get plastered to my head when I plop! I clip after plopping, so that helps. But does anyone have any suggestions for helping with that??

I've never really had root curl but from what I've read, that's a trait for 3a hair.

Before, my hair use to lay really flat against my head but once I started washing my hair with my head bent forward(I'm a bath person so I wash my hair bent over the tub after the bath) I found that my roots lift more easily along with using clips during and after I plop.

Ignore the typos.

I have started clipping during plops too for the same reason. I use a big clips though kind like octopus clips and I take my roots that are closest to the front and rap them around a comb with a long tail with gel and put all the hair in that section in the clip coiled up. Of course removing the tail of the comb. I plop then use my blow dryer on those sections individually through the clip. My diffuser hose right over the top of them. The clips protect the from direct heat and I end up with lift and great clumps. Sometimes I will then use the smallest version of the same clip right at the roots afterwards and wear them up untill I get to work (removing in the car) for a little added lift right at the root. This has helped me so much. I have even slept in the big ones at the top over night with all my hair in a satin bonnet.

I really hope that all made sense. 😉

Sometimes I put my hair in a pineapple and then plop the pineapple because it forces the roots to come up

I will try to remember to take a picture tomorrow as I am doing my routine. It is similar to what is being done in this video by Jonathan Torch except I didn't buy these fancy clips. They are just large jaw clips. I think the type of comb I use is called a rat tail. I wrap my hair around it like I would using the Skip Curl Method but just do it around the back of the comb, clip and pull the comb tail out. Then I just blow dry through the clips.

Roller Jaw Clamp Video

It is a lot less complicated than you would think. I have A LOT of BSL hair and I am a mother of 3 curly girls so I don't have much time to spend on myself. I only do the front for the root lift so it goes really fast. I love how you can sleep with it clipped in the front as well.

Like I said, I will try to remember to take pictures of the process for you.
