Thick Base for Hot Oil Treatments?

I was thinking, I'd feel more comfortable about having complete coverage with my hot oil treatments if I had a thick base, like Cantu Shea Butter or Elasta QP Mango Butter.

What do you guys think? Will the results change any if I mix my coconut oil with one of those products?
