Well I like doing funky stuff with my hair, so some of this may not be your style, but I did little twists (bantu knots I think they are called) all over or keeping just my bangs loose and used those mini hair bands to hold them, or bobby pins. You can bobby pin sections to make them hang where you want. The sides were the worst, but easy enough to put back with pins or cute clips/headband. I liked a messy style too if using a product that makes it piecy looking, so I would do bobby pin front sections and spike up back/top sections, sort of punk rock (pre-emo but probably could be described as such) style I guess.
Once I was sick of the pixie, I went into a modified inverted bob, keeping the back short while the sides/top caught up and this was the least painful way to grow it out, prevents the dreaded "mullet" look. Keep in mind, I was often still straightening at this point, not sure how my curls would grow out from it now.
Who knows, maybe you'll love it and keep it for awhile! You have to get regular cuts to keep up the shape of a pixie or it'll start to get funky. (I had to go in every 6 weeks like clockwork)
I really loved it. You can amp up the makeup to look extra feminine to counteract the short hair and it's a really cute, sexy look IMO.
Enjoy! And don't worry, even if you don't like it, it will grow back!
