Pixie?

Have any of the curlies out there get a pixie to remove the damage?
I'm highly considering it...
What are your thoughts?
I've had a pixie numerous times, not to cut off damaged hair, but b/c they are super cute! The only thing is, they are a pain in the a#$ to grow out, so keep that in mind. If you are willing to do some creative hair styling during the grow out, then go for it! I played with twists and headbands when I grew out mine. A pixie is really easy and fun to style, you will be out the door with a good hairstyle in under 5 minutes using just some pomade!

I've been considering a pixie cut. I'm sure the hubby wouldn't like it though. He prefers longer hair. I'm trying to grow mine out, but I have damaged it a lot from coloring and stripping.

@MSG, I've literally spent the last 10-12 yrs chemically straightening my hair and dying it every color of the rainbow that my hair is shot. The only way to recover is to cut it all off and I'm a little nervous... If you have any more tips on the grow out process, that'd be cool my appointment is the 13th

@ Beeduh, I'm not in a relationship of any sort so I figured I should get it over with now.
Pixies can be adorable - and are probably the shortest (pun intended!) path to healthy hair if your is extremely damaged. Keep in mind, though, that your hair may be more - or at lot less - curly than it is now. But it will be a great opportunity to wear cute earrings and play with your make-up! Good luck - and please post pics!

i had a pixie last summer. loved it. but decided to grow out and let me tell you there is nothing more frustrating. if you r going to do it just plan on keeping it awhile! i am sooo frustrated right now i am considering cutting it back into one. but ive grown 4 inches so i only have 2 or 3 more to go intell i can have a short bob.good luck
Well I like doing funky stuff with my hair, so some of this may not be your style, but I did little twists (bantu knots I think they are called) all over or keeping just my bangs loose and used those mini hair bands to hold them, or bobby pins. You can bobby pin sections to make them hang where you want. The sides were the worst, but easy enough to put back with pins or cute clips/headband. I liked a messy style too if using a product that makes it piecy looking, so I would do bobby pin front sections and spike up back/top sections, sort of punk rock (pre-emo but probably could be described as such) style I guess.

Once I was sick of the pixie, I went into a modified inverted bob, keeping the back short while the sides/top caught up and this was the least painful way to grow it out, prevents the dreaded "mullet" look. Keep in mind, I was often still straightening at this point, not sure how my curls would grow out from it now.

Who knows, maybe you'll love it and keep it for awhile! You have to get regular cuts to keep up the shape of a pixie or it'll start to get funky. (I had to go in every 6 weeks like clockwork)

I really loved it. You can amp up the makeup to look extra feminine to counteract the short hair and it's a really cute, sexy look IMO.

Enjoy! And don't worry, even if you don't like it, it will grow back!
