The soy seed extract could have protein but I'm not sure about the rest. I liked GDLI ok before but now that it has AVJ I think I'm going to have to try it again!

Thanks..this ingredient stuff can be very complicated. Do you know if the AVJ the only humectant in this?

I believe Panthenol is a mild humectant as well. I don't know about all the extracts.

I've been wondering if the Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract functions as a protein in Giovanni products. Does anyone know?

Um, I just looked at mine and it is has a different ingredient list than both of those listed.. lol It's more like the new one, but a different order and a few of the old ingredients.. hmm I really like it, so maybe just in case I should stock up before my walmart gets anything new... eek

Mine is wayy different. I'm afraid to try it. Has anyone had any success with the GDLI with cetyl alcohol as the second ingredient?

I dont like the GLI but I love the Smooth as Silk deep conditioner. Sometimes I use the smallest dab of that as a leave in. In general, if I leave anything in, its what I have used for a RO.

I used the direct leave in a few times this past summer. I really liked what it did to my hair. I liked the way it felt. It didn't feel sticky or greasy. I can't stand stuff in my hair that makes me feel like I need to wash my hands after I touch it. The direct leave in was great for that. BUT, it made my hair stick together like glue. It was awful. Once it was in and my hair was dry I couldn't run my fingers or a comb through my hair. I couldn't stand that. (Yes, I am bad and sometimes gently comb my hair.) I read somewhere online that the ingredients were changed and it now has aloe vera which makes it sticky. I don't think this would be as big a problem if you have short hair. My hair is shoulder length and very thick.

The ingredients on the bottle I bought are different as well:
Aqua, Cetyl Alcohol, Tocopherol, Panthenol, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Natural Fragrance, Grapefruit Extract, Aloe Vera Juice, Sunflower Seed Oil, Soybean Seed Extract, Betula Alba Extract, Malva Sylvestris Extract, Achillea Millefolium Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Equisetum Arvense Extract, Lavender Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Clary Extract, Thyme Extract, Coltsfoot Flower Extract, Nettle Extract
It is quite different from the first formulation... only the same in name. I'm not sure if I like it... or if it's doing that much. It has such a huge following I expected more, mainly for it to be more moisturizing. I don't know if the Citric Acid or grapefruit extract may be too drying.
