Leilani42- Is the L'Oreal spray gel that you tried CG?

ETA: How's the hold? If you usually use gel, what gel do you use?

ETAA: Ok just read your sig (duh!) and now I'm back to the original question: How's the hold of the L'Oreal spray gel?

lauraloo - hee hee, yep... I usually use BE. This hold seems to be lighter than that. Definitely less crunch. I've been playing with my hair quite a bit, since it's so nice and soft and curly, and it's definitely getting bigger. But, though it's getting bigger, it still looks nice? It looks intentionally bigger. I'm kinda liking it. Very natural, almost a no-product look.

It looks to be CG, as far as I can tell. Here are the ingredients:

Aqua, PVP, glycerin, phenoxyethanol, polyacrylate-3, peg-4 hydrogenated castor oil, sodium methylparaben, fragrance, aminomethyl propanol, disodium edta, polyethylene glycol, hexyl cinnamal, butylphenyl methypropional, linalool, limonene

I know there's been mention of castor oil and parabens being bad, but I can't remember specifically what was said.

And after hours of playing with my hair, it's still curly and shiny and soft, if a bit poofy. But good poofy. If you know what I mean.

Breathe in...breathe out...Not gonna buy a condish just because somebody tried it with a bunch of other stuff and liked it. No, wait, PJ - I didn't mean for you to covet everything she used! Stop that! AAAAARGH!!!

I'll be interested to know how the condish does when you specifically test its results. That slip sounds great, and hey, even if it doesn't curl up well or something, you know that you got at least one awesome product to get those results.

The castor oil has PEG-4 in front of it, so it should be soluble and not a problem for you.

That L'Oreal Studio Tightly Wound Curl Boosting Spray Gel sounds very, very similar to the discontinued Curl Vive Spray Gel that was quite excellent in heat/humidity.

Curl Vive Spray Gel's ingreds:
Water, PVP, Phenoxyethanol, Glycerin, Polyacrylate-3, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Fragrance, Sodium Methylparaben, Aminomethyl Propanol, Disodium EDTA, Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein.

The only downside I see is the new one has no wheat protein (which is chunky-curl boosting).

Just wondering if you can use it as a leave-in condish?

cjc - I'd imagine you can use it as a leave in. It might be a bit thick for some people.

Well, I used both again this morning (I can't sleep on my hair without re-showering. It just doesn't work) and I still really like them both. I used re:coil underneath the Tightly Wound, and my hair is much less poofy today. But I don't know if I prefer it this way... I liked the volume. Still has great curl formation, and it still smells wonderful. And very little frizz. Even walking around in the very cold Michigan wind didn't mess up my hair! That never happens!

So, basically, I didn't separate them to see what each did alone, because who cares? My hair looks good with both of them. I will do a separate run with just the co and my normal routine, to see what happens. But I think I really like it. I'll keep you all posted on any developments or problems I run into.

Gotta say, I really like both products.

Teela,

The only place I've seen it is Eckerds drugstore, if you have one near you. They did not have it in Kmart, Walmart, Rite Aid or CVS. I wish all stores would carry the same stuff!

I'm finally getting a Walgreens in my town-yay!

I bought the cone-free Nutri-gloss conditioner and have used it a few times. I don't like it because it seems to make my hair more frizzy than normal. The smell is nice, but a little strong. I am sticking with my Regis Olive Oil because it's a lot better IMO.

Wow, I've been using colorvive shampoo and cond for dry hair(even before my hair was colored since it's gentle on the hair) since I was 13 and nothing has worked better and I've tried a lot of the fancy brands like redken, nexxus, bedhead, pm, etc.

I finally bought this condish last night at my walmart , funny they only had a few condishs but they didnt have the matching poo that i also wanted to try ( i do tend to poo with either a low poo or or a regular 1 but only about once or twice a week since CG tends to be a lil over conditioning for my hair sometimes ). i CO with kiwi lime condish and then used the Loreal condish comb thru , showered and then rinsed it out ( did a honey rinse beforehand ), i got that nice seaweed feel when i rinsed out plus i loved the smell.. i squished some water out and used suave sculpting freeze gel in the new tube and then diffused partway , scrunched in some boots curl cream and diffused the rest , great volume, no frizz whatsoever and such defined clumpy curls , i think i love this condish

I think I saw where Eckerds has the Vive products on sale this week. I believe it was $3.99.

Totally off the subject, they also had a coupon for buy one get one of the Jane Cosmetics. Jane has come out with a mineral make-up. I'm a sucker for trying cheaper mineral make-ups. I like my Bare Escentuals and even though it lasts me a long time, I hate paying $20 plus for minerals (which is probably just dirt!). So far, though, I haven't found anything that I like better than BE.
