Default need help with BHRG

I finally broke down and bought BHRG. Do you have better results with this in humid weather? When I tried it today, the gel didn't work any better than cheaper stuff (HE, etc).

Do you use leave in and curl creme first, and then the gel?

I have fine, 3a hair, about shoulder length.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Sherry

Don't know how much help I'll be, since I'm 3B, & where I live it's always humid. I do use a leave-in & dab of cream underneath. I apply all products to wet just-squeezed hair, while still in the shower, then I squeeze again, then up in a towel. The cream mainly helps to keep my hair soft and help the curls clump into bigger spirals -- BRHG (& any hard hold gel) tends to give me skinnier, stringier curls.

I'm more of a 2b-3a, but I love BHRG. It's one of the few gels I've tried so far that holds for most of the day for me. I always use a leave-in (currently Garnier Curl & Shine) and just started using a few dots (like pea-size) of re:coil underneathe about a quarter size of BHRG. I put it all in while my hair's still really wet and upside down, rake through with my fingers, and then plop for like 15-20 minutes. My curls are never as clumped as I would like them, but I get fairly well defined, skinny waves/curls that resist frizz through most of the day (unless it's super windy, like it is today).

I haven't been able to try it in super humid weather yet, however. I'll have to wait until summer for that . . .

I'd say that it does work better for me in humid weather, but that's just because pretty much everything works better on my hair in the humidity! But overall I really need the hold, regardless of the weather, and haven't found many other gels that are up to the task. In the summer I normally wear CK and re:coil underneath it. Now that the dry frigid weather is upon us I'm using a leave-in (Curl Junkie Hibiscus & Banan) mixed with re:coil under it.
